Last week’s winners are: Millie and Alison. Congratulations! And all though you wouldn’t know it by the missing blogs, there is a new contest underway right now. Just comment, and you’re in.
Weight Watchers: Errggg!!! Still stuck. (And more determined than ever.) Starting tomorrow, I’m adding a dance routine to my normal bike ride, but my main plan is to just keep on keeping on.
Dear friends Bill Francis and Renae Kinsey visited briefly–too briefly, in fact–but I enjoyed spending time with them, however short that time turned out to be. It’s a good thing we’ll all be meeting up again in December, in Vegas, during the big rodeo.
Normally, I would write a special blog for Veteran’s Day, but this year, obviously, it just didn’t happen. If you’ve been reading these entries for a while, you know how much I admire and appreciate those who place their lives on the line to preserve the way of life we enjoy, both veterans and active duty personnel. Recently, I spotted a t-shirt in a catalog that pretty much said it all: “Heroes don’t wear capes–they wear dog-tags.” Amen to that.

Congratulations! to Millie and Alison!!!
You will break the stand-still you’re at and go on to lose whatever it is you want to lose. I’m proud of you.
I wrote a poem about our service people once. Do you want to read it.
I’m glad you enjoyed your friend’s visit.
Take care, Linda and have a good rest of the week.

As the holidays are fast approaching take time to take care of yourself also….DRINK a glass of chilled water with a twist of lime or lemon and celery sticks when at parties during the holidays…keeps the extra pounds off and at this time of year we have less time to exercise….ENJOY life but keep writing your fantastic books because I need to read them………

Keep on keeping on my friend! It’s all we can do! I think I have shared the story of my 28 year old daughter who has to have brain surgery… she is the mother of my 5 year old grandson Tucker who recently spent 21 days in the hospital with complications of his Cystic Fibrosis. I know you have so many people respond to your blogs that it’s hard to remember all of us… perhaps the best way to identify myself that you will recall is to tell you that I am child 4 of 6 to Valine (Palm) Campbell from Northport… lol. Back to my message; I will be away next week. I will be going with my daughter and her husband to Seattle where she will be having the brain surgery that we have been fighting to get authorized for the past 5 years! The date is finally approaching, and not a minute too soon! The CT Scan that they did at her pre-op appointment last week revealed new challenges which took her risk factor during/after surgery from 4-6% to closer to 50-65% risk that they may encounter problems, ranging from a stroke (for which they are going to place her on blood thinners prior to surgery as a preventative measure) to the possiblity of nicking an artery and bleeding unconctrollably as a result of the blood thinners… for which contingency they will have several units of her rare blood type on hand…. We are taking sollace in the fact that she has a highly respected Neurosurgeon and team of specialist who are going to be working on her and know that God will hold her in his healing hands through out the process. I would like to ask, if I may, that your faithful fans will hold Jamie and our family up in prayer durning the next week for our safe travels to Seattle ant that her surgery Monday morning to goes well without complications and that she will recover quickly and be able to return home to spend Thanksgiving with her little boys!
I don’t know if it’s allowed on your blog or not, but if it is, could you please allow me to share the “GoFundMe” link that has been established to help the family get through the additional expense of having to be in Seattle for at least a week if not more… hotels, parking, food, etc. all gets very expensive and this young couple is still trying to bounce back from the financial strain of having little Tucker in the hospital for 21 days just over 7 weeks ago. Due to all Jamie’s health issues as well as Tucker’s, Jamie’s husband has had to use all his vacation and personal leave pay that they had intended to live off of during this surgery earlier in the year. The stress of taking time off without pay is a stress that they don’t need and if there are generous people out there who would be willing to contribute a little money to the campaign or at least share the campaign with their friends and families I would sincerely appreciate it! If anyone cares to read the story of Jamie and help out
the link is: http://www.gofundme.com/gyrjc8?fb_action_ids=10205126510232230&fb_action_types=og.shares
Any help that we can get would be a blessing! Even if you are able to help with the cost of food for a day, or help cover the parking, which costs about $28 per day at the hospital! Thank you in advance for your prayers, positive thoughts and if possible, contributions! Peg
Comment
Peggy, I just read your comment. I know about the expense of trying to live while being at the hospital with a loved one. I can’t afford to send any money, as I barely get by, and just learned I have to start paying more for my insurance supplement, without getting more on my SS check, but I can pray for your daughter, grandson, and you and your family.
Check to see if there is a Hope House next to the hospital. They sometimes provide a place to stay while there. I don’t know how to check into it as when my son was in the hospital, his patient advocate, or whatever they call the people who check on things to help the family, took care of it.
Also, I have a friend whose son just had brain surgery and he is already back at home and doing well. So, keep believing and God Bless all of you at this time.
Comment
Gloria, Thank you! The surgery went well. I stayed home and am taking care of my grandkids and have been getting regular updates from my son-in-law all day. She just got out of recovery and is very sore, but everything went better than we were planning so we are busy thanking God for his helping hand guiding the surgical team through the day! I appreciate your prayers!!!

Way to go. Keep going but change it up. Its body memory you need to change as if you switch your workout to different times or different ways. Its like if your do your workout the same everyday your body remembers. You have to change it. Different times or walk up hill one day down the next or both different times. Its the change that your body needs like cross training. Just a thought.
Have a great day! Thanks again for all the wonderful stories.

Congrats to the winners this week. Enjoy adding the dance routine to your day. Myself I love to dance and I put on the music on and dance I go. I need to add the walking to my day.

Wow, I’ve never seen that saying before but I sure do like it. Thanks for sharing it. My husband reminded me of the same thing that Jo-Ann Baker said in her reply; you have to change up your routine or you won’t see any change. I had done so well all year with my indoor bicycle but I’ve hit a plateau and not going anywhere. Changed my routine this week and I am noticing a difference. Keep up your great work Linda.
Congrats to the winners.

congrats to the winners! Don’t give-up but sometimes to much of excerise can hurt you-try every other day! Sometimes eating the same thing can hurt you too that’s what my leader told me to change it once in awhile. I have a problem with cheese can’t have a lot of it and I was eating too much of it during the week-just a suggestion. Have a wonderful weekend!

Keep that exercise program going! Here in Michigan its 20 degrees & windy! Snow is on the ground! But not as bad as the U.P. They had 2-3 feet! UGH!

I did WW’s years ago and did pretty good until my back started to give me fits and then I slowly put on the weight again, but now I going the portion control route and hopefully I can loose some weight. Keep going to WW and you will get the results you want. Happy Holidays to you

Keep on keeping on with the weight watchers. Have you thought of writing a story about a soldier and an old love interest? Say she had married and it did not work out and he comes home to a western setting from war (nightmares of the things seen etc.) and they find love again and heal each other.

Keep up the good work, dancing routine should be fun.

That is a “great” t-shirt! I would wear it with pride. My husband is a Vietnam Vet. I am so proud of him for his sacrifices. So many take our freedom for granted. I’m not one of them and yes I know you aren’t either. Love you and don’t stress the pounds.

It has been awhile since I have had a chance to get caught up. I am so envious of your trip to Vegas and the Rodeo. I love rodeos. It has been years since I have been able to attend one. When I was a kid we would attend the Labor Day Rodeo in Palestine, IL where we lived. Reading about the rodeo has gotten me inspired to get back into going to the rodeos in my area and even going back to my hometown roots and attending the Labor Day Rodeo in Palestine next year. Have a great week and just keep keeping on. You have the heart and enthusiasm to do what you set out to do.

Have a great weekend!

Amen to that.

Hi Linda: Don’t get discouraged about your lack of weight loss. You have done so well and will continue to do so. I just wanted to tell you what some friends told me when I was exercising and dieting. You are exercising and muscle weighs more than fat!! Who knew???? Anyway go by how your clothes fit rather than the scale and hang in there. You will reach your goal. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Love, Sandi
