Winners are: Valia Smith and Elma Lamoureux. Congratulations, Valia and Elma! New contest in progress; as always, just comment. Two winners will be chosen at random, notified, and posted here. Each will receive an autographed copy of my latest book.
Now, for the update. I am still under the weather. I became dehydrated and went in yesterday for an IV, and I was given some tests, mainly to diagnose or rule out a condition called c-diff, which results from overuse of antibiotics. Ironically, it is treated with more of the same. It is highly contagious (who knew?) so no one can come near me except for one ranch hand, Kat, who has already been exposed. It certainly makes a person grateful for ordinary good health!
That’s all the news that’s fit to print. (Trust me, some of it isn’t.)
Comment
Feel better Linda. I sincerely hope you do not have c-diff. I’ve been exposed before as my mom had it when she was having chemo. It’s not just from antibiotics as we found out, but is treated with them. Again I have or you feel better soon.

Well, first. Feel better. As I am a pharmacy technician it’s best to follow the direction the doctor gives. They do have a lot of years of education.

I would like to suggest a couple of things I take to help me fight off colds, flu, etc. I take Seagate Olive Leaf (seagateproducts.com/) and IMMUNITION Beta Glucan NSC-100 Extra Strength 60 Capsules. Seagate also has an olive leaf tea that I really like, too. I usually order the Beta Glucan from mynaturalmarket.com. The olive leaf is effective as an antibiotic, antifungal, antibacterial. And, after all the antibiotics, you need some probiotics. I like Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics Original Formula, which you can get from mynaturalmarket.com also. If you take probiotics along with antibiotics, you should allow at least two hours between the two. I would be glad to furnish any other info if needed. Hope you get on the mend soon.

Linda, you just ain’t having no fun, a’tall, are you? Seriously, I pray you begin to heal and stay well. God bless you!

Linda, I went through that a year ago. I was in the hospital for pneumonia and on massive antibiotics. So all those antibiotics wiped away all the bad bacteria and the good. Now you need to go on another antibiotic to help promote the good bacteria which you need. Yes it is highly contagious. That is why we have 2 bathrooms in our house. He wiped down the bathroom every day with Lysol for 10. It is awful. Take care. This leaves you weak and not in the mood to do anything. Hugs

Hi Linda,
I’m sorry to hear of your medical problem. I can empathize with your plight. I was diagnosed with one thing, was over medicated which caused numerous infections throughout the winter. I am no medical leave due to the various problems I endured.
On the bright side. Went into Edmonton yesterday and was at Chapters where I picked up Always a Cowboy and Forever a Hero.
Now I can recover reading your stories.
Until next time,
Jeannette

Linda please get well soon. I’m adding you to my prayers.
This pneumonia stuff is no good, I know as I get it about every other year. The best thing to do is rest plus lots of fluids. You need to get well so you can visit with your mom plus do fun things like your Weight Watchers.
Rest & get well soon
Joanne

Get well soon Linda. So sorry you are having so many problems. I’m on my second round of antibotics – because of bronchitis. I’ve coughed till I’m sore. I’ve never heard of c-diff, but it sounds bad. Hope you are feeling better.
Elma, I want to share a story with you. My middle name is Elma. When I was an infant my aunt (Daddy’s sister) was coming to baby sit me so Mama could go back to work. She wrote my parents how excited she was that she was going to see me for the first time, and to keep me. Her last remark was, “I just know you are calling the baby Elma.” Daddy had picked that name. Mama said, “Why does she think we are calling the baby Elma?” He finally confessed that at 16 he had been in love with a girl named Elma. If I’d been Mama, I’d have killed him and told folks he died!!!!!!

very familiar with c-diff; my father-in-law contracted c-diff when in hospital and since my kids were very small (he was diagnosed with cancer and had to live with us-3 yrs)-sent him to nursing home to recover. then my mom, while recovering from her cancer (colon) surgery, got it from the hospital. omg-what a mess, as you are aware. she had a colostomy and didn’t double check her ostomy bag was secure. we laughed later but at the time-what a shitty mess (no pun). after that, when ever she was admitted, always got a private room because of the c-diff. sorry you are going thru that nasty infection. but it will clear up, given time and the proper meds. as they always say-wash your hands well and make sure all health care workers in contact with you-wash their hands too, in view of you. take care

Feel better! C-diff makes your belly hurt. This comes with many other unpleasant side effects. It seems to me that rainy weather manifests the worst viruses, and aggravates the respiratory tract.

That is serious stuff. My doctor always recommends and urges when prescribing antibiotics Activia twice a day and pill form of probiotics. Of course they always could do what I call the $hit shake. Introducing healthy bacteria via a nasal tube down to the gut. Can you tell I volunteered in an infection control dept.
Hope you feel better soon.

Sorry to hear you are battling C-Diff. That’s so scary. My Mom had it at the age of 98 after a stay in the hospital. Took forever (it seemed) to get rid of it. (By the way, she was 7 weeks shy of 100 when she passed away.)
Prayers for speedy recovery.
