The answer to the above question is: writing! My Civil War novel, tentatively titled “North of Eden”, is flowing fast and furious. I’m loving every minute!
This week’s winners, who should have been announced on Monday, are Debbie Bleege and Patricia Drennen. Each will receive an autographed copy of “Once a Rancher”, my new book, which will be available on March 29. I’m also tucking in a purple Complaint Free World bracelet as a little extra. A new contest is underway, and winners will be chosen at random, notified, and announced here on the blog, hopefully on Monday. Each will receive an autographed book and a bracelet. All you need to do is comment, and you’re entered.
I’ve been listening to plenty of audiobooks lately, mostly suspense novels. I’m currently occupied with “No One Knows”, by J.T. Ellison. I’ve also enjoyed “And She Was”, by Allison Gaylin. I love her series character, Brenna Spectre, who suffers from a strange condition that causes her to remember every moment of every day of her life, from age 11 on, in perfect detail. I’m thrilled to have discovered a new favorite, and plan to listen to several of her other books. She weaves a compelling story and keeps me guessing right up to the end. I’m looking forward to Harlen Coben’s new one, “Fool Me Once”–I am a big fan of Mr. Coben, along with Linwood Barclay. As I’ve said, I’m audible.com’s best customer. Not sure if I’ve ever mentioned this, but if you’re new at Audible, you can get your first book absolutely free. You can’t beat a deal like that!
That’s the news for today, my friends.
I’ll be back soon.

How do you have time to listen to audio books, play with your horses, and research and write new novels? I need to know your secret. Finished Once a Rancher and, as usual, loved it. It arrived in my mail the same day your gift of Christmas in Mustang Creek arrived. That is my next read. Again, many thanks.

I can’t wait to read your Civil war book. I have been mowing the lawn today and looking for my cats collier, yes put his name tag on it about a week ago and he has done lost it. He seem to be a hunter, the other day he brought home a mole and today he came draging a snake across the yard. and it was still alive, have I mention, that I don’t like snakes at all.

I appreciate hearing what books you’re listening to. I can’t concentrate enough to listen to audio books – my mind starts to wander, but it gives me ideas of other books to buy at the bookstore.
I was also wondering, since seeing you in the group photo at the Gunsmoke anniversary reunion on the Encore Western channel, what your connection to Gunsmoke was?

Dear Linda,
You sure have been busy. Can’t wait to read your Civil War book. That period of history is very fascinating. It’s also sad the way brothers were fighting against brothers and fathers were fighting against sons. Children fought in that war. Young boys would lie about their age and allowed to fight. I have heard it said more men died in the Civil War than in both World Wars.

I have been tempted to try J.T. Ellison, now I will for sure.

Visiting a book store on the Oregon Coast, found several of your older books I haven’t read. Going to read and watch the rain and listen to the ocean

Congrats to the winners.

Thank you! I was going to ask where you got your audible books and you told us in your note. When I get home I want to try Audible.com so I know how it works. Right now I’m at a friends and don’t want to tie up her computer. Had to get away from the mess that is my mother’s house. She saved so much so my brother and I would have something when she was gone but I’m the one dealing with it and I got so overwhelmed I ran away. Visiting with friends in a place I used to live. They want me to move back and I’m seriously thinking about it. EXCEPT that I also want sun, no rain, no snow, no more cold!

I just want to say thank you Linda. I love reading your blog every week. I don’t always have time to respond but wanted to today. The past two weeks have been a kind of blur. My mom is going to be starting chemo again for another round of stomach cancer, so your blog lifts my spirits as well as hers as I read it to her. She is being very optimistic about it this time, and staying strong as Saturday April 2 we have my daughters wedding. That is the bright light she is looking forward to. Thank you again for your wonderful books and your blog.

Debbie, so sorry to hear about your job! I’ve been in that position too, and it feels like someone pulled the floor out from under you. I’ve found, over the past 61 years, that the saying is really true: “When God closes a door, He opens a window.” You never know when something good will come from something bad. Blessings to you!

HI, Roberta. I haven’t bought any audio books either. My niece, clever girl that she is, suggested I check them out from the Library. Now I just need to get a library card (do they still have those?)!!!! Do you have a public library close to you? Happy reading/listening! Hilda

Will this tie into the Caroline & the Raider, Emma & the Outlaw, I’ve went blank on the third? It’s been along time since I’ve read them. I thought it was a good series. Will it stand alone? Is this a hardcover or paperback? Really doesn’t matter I’ll be getting it anyway? How are the animals? Need to get back to getting on facebook at least every other day, maybe keep up better.
Comment
Hi, I think you are talking about the Orphan Train series, right? The 3 sisters who were separated as children? That was a wonderful series. Anyone who hasn’t read it yet, should try to get it and enjoy!
Comment
I’ve been wondering about the title of your up-coming book. If it takes place around Gettysburg, does that mean your main character is a Confederate soldier? Pennsylvania is North and those of us who live in the South certainly think of it as Eden. Just wondering. . .
In the meantime, there is less than a week to Once a Rancher. And, Harlan Coben does know how to write a mystery.

I cant wait to read a story about the civil war let alone to read once a rancher. I am collecting and reading all your books and want to add these to the collection for my library. How do I obtain that necklace that you once gave away? It had to do with one of your books where the lady worked with and made jewelry. I cant remember the name of the book off hand – it was a while since I read it. The necklace was very pretty and I would like to own one and give one to each of my grand-daughters. please let me know about the necklace.

Can’t wait for the 29th so I can get Once a Rancher.

You sure are one busy lady. Glad to hear you are coming along
on your Civil War book. I’m looking forward to reading it.
Reading books now about Rookie k-9 Units by six different
authors. First two by Terri Reed and Lenora Worth and they
have been good reading.
We had a march snow storm here Wednesday that brought
everything to a stand still. We have drifts in our yard higher
than my waist. Our 4-legged kid thinks he’s in heaven; running
and jumping in it and eating it.
You take care and have a blessed Easter.
