Yesterday was Weight Watchers–and I said a prayer early in the day, asking to be grateful, whatever the scale said. Good thing. I was up 3.2 pounds–not surprising after a trip and a sprained ankle–but I got my answer, too. I was and am grateful–because I found Weight Watchers in the first place, because I’ve lost a LOT of weight and kept it off, because the meeting was inspirational, and because I know what to do and how to do it. I’m back on track and planning to stick with it, despite any ups and downs I may encounter.
Recently, while reading Christiane Northrup’s new book (she’s an M.D.), “Goddesses Don’t Age”, I came across a process called “Change me” prayers, and I’m impressed. (No, I don’t think of myelf as a goddess. Just granting some poetic license here.) The reason these prayers work–in some cases, instantly–is pretty obvious: God always has a better idea. So, “Dear God, please help me lose 5 pounds (or 50, or 150)” turns into, “Dear God, please change me into a person who eats wisely and maintains a healthy weight.” The actual credit for the Change-Me idea goes to author Tosha Silver, whose new book is–wait for it–“Change Me Prayers.” Now, I’m gonna tell you, Tosha is a free spirit, and some of you will probably think she’s a little ‘out there’. Here’s the great thing, though: you can learn A LOT from her, because she’s one smart cookie and her writing is highly readable. Classic case of, don’t-throw-the-baby-out-with-the-bathwater.
On the blog front, I have some interesting developments in the works. For one thing, I have a new Apple computer, and I should be able to post photos with no problem as soon as I make the switch, which will probably be next week. For another, I’m going to be bringing on some guest bloggers. Also, there will be more Q&A blogs, as you all seem to enjoy those.
Last but not least, I’m thrilled to announe that THE MARRIAGE SEASON debuted at #3 on the New York Times bestseller list! Yee-haw!!! Largely because of all of you, of course. Thank you SO MUCH.
Remember that the contest is running again, and if you comment, you’ll be entered. Winners will be announced on Monday.
Now, it’s time for me to get to work.

Sounds like everything is going great for you and hang in there with the weight watchers its working for you. I know first hand about having a weight problem. I have been fighting them all my life. Right now I just try to exercise every day and try to maintain my weight where it is because if I loose any then I gain back more, so I do well just to maintain. I have been trying to walk two miles a day but today it was lawn mowing day and I do push mow the lawn and today I done the weed eating so I guess that is pretty good exercise.

Congratulations on the book being #3 that is fantastic!!! I can’t wait to read this book, I loved the first two books and I know this one is going to be awesome!!! Glad you had a great time on your vacation!!!

Love all your books Linda, the characters are easy to get to know, whether they are good or bad (mostly good!), and I always feel like I am there with them, sharing their joys and sorrows (mostly joys!), I never feel like I am on the “outside” looking in at them. Your books always make me feel welcome, whether I travel back in time with the story or in the present day, thank you so much.

it’s great that you haven’t let those few pounds discourage you – I think you would have to almost expect it with the combo of vacation & hurting your ankle.

Just got your new book today! I’m so excited. Summer is so hard to stay thinking about a diet. All the fruits and veggies in season will get you back on track. Brake for grandstands.

The ups and downs are to be expected. You’ve got the skills now. No problem.
And the heads up on prayer that changes the inner self is inspirational.
“The Marriage Season” is my current #1. Just finished the Audible audiobook this morning. I didn’t want it to end. Jack Garrett’s narration is extraordinary.

I enjoyed a recent episode with Christine Northrup on Super Soul Sunday. I wish I’d know about her when I was having menopause issues. And I love the idea of “change-me prayers”. I will look her up. Thank you for the inspiration!
