In other words, this blog will probably amount to a hodge-podge of Random Linda Thoughts and Observations.
Weight Watchers. Sigh. The battle continues. I’m still stalled out, and more determined than ever to break through this plateau, no matter how long it takes. The fact is, I’m very happy with my body these days, and loving my exercise bike more every time I pedal my way through a podcast or blast of music. The food plan is something I can not only live with, but love–for the rest of my life.
Speaking of podcasts, I just discovered a new and very helpful one, called Halfsize Me–very good information and inspiration for those of us battling the proverbial bulge. The info is solid and sane–last night, I listened to two, one about a current Weight Watchers leader who had lost just over 135 pounds and has–and here’s the challenging part–kept it off for seven years. I want what she’s having.
I’ve been examining my eating habits, etc. lately–you’ll recall the sugar-free gum threat if you’ve been with us for a while–and found I’d gotten a little lax on my water-drinking (back to the sloshing-figure app for me). My WW leader and others tell me that can cause a problem, even with regular exercise. Another podcast guest reminded me of the addage about drinking half one’s body weight in water, in ounces, thank God, not pounds, and I’m doing that. (And NO, I am not telling how many ounces that is. )
I believe I mentioned my Taize (there should be an accent mark above the ‘e’ but I don’t know how to make it happen) fascination. Just between you and me, I thought Taize was the name of a composer. (Blush. You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl.) Turns out, Taize is actually a Christian community in France. In any case, I’m totally hooked on the music, which is sort of like Gregorian Chant (I also love GC), but not, because I can understand the words. It’s very soothing–prayer in song.
We’re celebrating a fabulously sunny day here in Spokaloo. The more of those, the better.
Have a good weekend, friends of mine. There’s still time if you haven’t entered this week’s contest–all you have to do is comment. Winners will be announced on Monday and a new round will begin immediately.
Be a blessing.

Keep pushing on the WW. I missed my meeting this week and no more. It’s amazing that even only having lost 10 lbs I feel so much better. Still a long way to go but it’s nice to see the look on my husband’s face. And even better the Wow from my daughter who has not seen me this weight for along time! Off to the walking path. Have a great weekend Linda. And always thank you for an uplifting message.

Don’t worry about that plateau. We hit those now and again but with your faith and good habits you’ll be on the losing side again soon. Happy weekend Linda. We are getting some snow flurries here in Vermont today. Time to curl up with a good book and a cup of tea.

Have a great weekend girl! Yes, I’m having the same problem with my weight, but working on it. I have other issues that make exercise hard, but hey, I do what I can. I find that if I can just MOVE it helps! lol Oh, and can DEFINITELY tell when the water isn’t up to the right levels! Not happy with my body yet, but getting there – very slowly – and it’s going to take a good bit of time because I have BUNCHES to lose….(like 100+). My sister was able to lose hers in less than a year… but unfortunately, I don’t have her stamina and abilities (or money! :))
I thought Taize was just a misspelling of taz.. like a tazer gun! ROFL! So I’m WAY back in those thar hills!!
Have a great weekend to ALL!!

Good luck with WW. I’m sure you’ll soon start losing weight again. The GC chant sounds interesting. I listen to Native American woodwinds to relax. Very soothing and there are some amazing artists out there. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Good luck on the giveaway.

One of hardest things for me to do was to give up Diet-soda. I was like a nicotine addict. I would quit for several months and then one sip and I was right back to drinking a 12 pack a day. I got hooked on diet pop while we were stationed in Germany. You do not drink water there unless it is bottled. Now I can happily say I have not had a carbonated beverage for over 9 years. Water is now my go to drink. I never thought I would like water , just plain water, but now I enjoy water and a occasional glass of ice tea. I give my 125 weight loss credit to drinking water. It really is the best.

I am also on WW and I know how frustrating it can be when you get on the scale and haven’t lost anything, but I wanted you to know what an inspiration you have been to me in my travels to lose weight. Reading your articles is what started me on my WW journey in the first place and your sharing has kept me going. I have now lost 34 pounds and I feel wonderful. I sincerely do not believe I could done it without you. As you say, it is a lifetime journey and thanks to you I am now on it. I am sure that I am not the only one you have helped but I am very grateful. God Bless.

If you want to use a letter with an accent and you are using Microsoft Word:
1. Click on Insert (on the menu bar at the top)
2. Click on Symbol on the drop down menu.
3. Select the font you are using.
4. Scroll through the various letters and symbols, click on the one you want.
5. Click on Insert. The letter or character you selected will appear on your document.
6. Click on Close.
In the Symbol menu, there is also a code that can be used for the letter selected, in the case of é, the code is alt+0233.
By the way, I’m 81 years old and whether or not a word has the appropriate accent makes no difference to me – life is too short to worry about the small stuff. I just like to pass on information when I have the opportunity.

I’ll have to check out the podcast Halfsize me. I’ve been trying to go without sugar that contain added sugars every other day and on the other day limited to 30 grams and I lost 3 pounds. I lasted almost 3 weeks and then Halloween set me back. Will start again tomorrow. I can resist most sugars but chocolate and desserts are my downfall.

I meant foods with added sugars. Geesh…

Another beautiful sunny fall day here in Mead. Did you see the glorious sunset last night? I walked out of Yokes just in time to see the beauty of it… I took a picture but unfortunately I couldn’t get it without McDonalds in the foreground… lol

You are a constant upbeat in the music of my life. Thanks partly to your transparency with your struggle with weight! I’ve recently lost 15+ pounds. Which means I only have 81 more to go!
Thank you so much!

Darlene,
Thank you sis. Praying daily with you “feels” like so little, yet I know prayer is the answer that will get you through this terrible life trauma. One day at a time and you will make it through this difficult and painful time. Linda is indeed a wonderful inspiration to us all. So keep reading these post and be encouraged. God is listening to all our prayers and every day will bring new hope.
Love you Sis,
Dixie
