My tomato plants have gotten so big that they had to be transplanted from the Aerogarden set-up to pots. Jeremy is doing the hands-on work–adding stakes and moving the whole works to my very small and unfancy but perfectly workable greenhouse, out by the barn. In place of the tomatoes: zinnias!
None of these lovelies can be planted in the ground until around Mother’s Day, but it’s good to have them off to a running start. I have two Aerogardens now and another on the way; my plan is to raise salads year-around for personal consumption. One set of seed-pods contains various kinds of lettuce, another, cherry tomatoes. A few green onions from the supermarket and I’ll be in business. YEE-HAW. The third unit will contain more flowers, which will eventually be in pots out on the deck.
Someone asked if I can skip Weight Watchers to write. Answer: I can–WW is, of course, volunary–but I usually don’t. I need that accountability. (Plus, Jenni would drag me, as she’s my accountability partner.)
Another reader recommended a book, ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE. I downloaded it and started listening last night. And it’s WONDERFUL. Thank you, whoever you were.
Weekend plans include the Women’s Show downtown, and Wendy and I are also looking forward to a Best of Broadway production of GUYS AND DOLLS on the 25th. We both LOVE musical theatre.
Well, that’s today’s update.
Remember: God loves you NOW, just the way you are. He’s not waiting for some new, improved version.

Thx for the love Linda! You r a message of light to so many, God Bless you “real good”! ;->
I was doing so good for my WW eating plans here in sunny Florida & then my dear Dad (73 yoa) who just got out of the hospital from the flu & pneumonia & invited me to “lupper” for Fried Shrimp so there goes my plan for this week’s counts…but it’s worth it for this daddy’s girl to have some time with my hero (20+yrs USAF special ops & then the Space Shuttle program after he “retired”, along with many many other reasons!). I am blessed!!!

Teresa W., you are the first person I’ve ever heard use the word “Lupper” besides myself. I thought I made it up and began using it a few years back, quite a few, but it fits the bill, or should I say, the meal, to a T.
For myself, it means between lunch and supper. Is it the same for you?

I’m so glad you are up with spring. You inspire me!!!

If you like to recycle, consider planting the root end of your onions. They will make you a new crop of green onions without a lot of trouble.

I hope you and Wendy have fun at the musical!! You inspire me so much talking about your tomato plants. I just went out and bought some plants to put in the ground. Love the way you ended today’s blog. Such beautiful words..

I love tomatoes and last year I planted a yellow cherry tomatoe and it was very good. Plan on getting another one this year. You can’t ask for a better snack.

Good for you, Linda, for your commitment to your health…going to WW as many weeks as possible; and it really helps to have a partner to go with or who can encourage you.
Have a great day, and enjoy those tomatoes when they are ready!

Linda, it sounds as if you’re doing well on your WW. I pray you continue to improve as the weather improves.

I like your advice at the end of your column today–God loves just as you are today. He is not waiting for a new and improved version (did that from memory so hope it is accurate). When I was in my 30s, I finally came to the realization that not everyone was going to like me. That is ok with me because I don’t necessarily like everyone I meet. I know what my faults and strengths are. I try to work on the faults but I like were I am in my life. My Mom who is 90 is always saying ‘why me?’. My answer has always been ‘why not you?’. Do I have problems? Yes but I am also lucky. I still have my mind, I need a new knee and my back hurts. I struggle with my weight but I am so much better off than some people. I can walk, I can see, I have shelter, I have enough food to eat and I have heat or cooling. Not everyone is that lucky. My only child died at the age of 16 and even though he has been gone for 29 yrs I still had 16 wonderful years with. There are so many good memories. I received lovely letters for doctors and nurses telling me what an extraordinary young man he was. So I am lucky. Thank you for always having some wisdom that makes me think.

You’re welcome for my recommendation of ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE.
It was so good that my mind still wonders back to the characters. And I was having dreams about the story during the time I was reading it.
Enjoy

I, with friends, enjoy musical theater too. Just saw the Best of Broadway’s ‘I Love Lucy’ last night. Very cute! Very enjoyable!

Thanks so much for the little peeks into your life. You are inspiring.

I am jealous about your tomato plants. We still have snow/frozen snow in our garden area and the ground underneath is still frozen solid. Don’t know when I will be able to start getting my garden ready for planting. I’m afraid to even try starting anything because the plants may be ready way before my garden is. I live in New Hampshire and we still have lots of snow in our yard.

Under the weather today– I got blindsided by some nasty old bug that decided I was enjoying every day life too much. Any way I enjoyed your blog, as always. Enjoy and have a wonderful week end.

I plant a garden every summer. Try the yellow cherrie tomatoes. There really good. I tryed them last year first time and they were really good. I plant yellow an red tomatoes and yellow is just less acid. But good to eat. My 2 year old grandson Becham loves them. He would pick them off the vine an just eat them last year when he was 1. He will eat them out of any salad you have too. Have a great day!
