Okay, so much for skiffs and flurries–it’s snowing in earnest this morning. It’s gorgeous, but, then, I don’t have to commute, so my opinion may not be in the majority. I’m hoping the roads will be clear enough by this afternoon so I can attend my first EMDR* session, but we shall see. That, as my mom would say, is life in the great Northwest.
LAST WEEK’S winners (bet you thought I’d forgotten, and I did, actually, but Jenni remembered), who would have been chosen and notified while I was in Northport, are Gloria Bare and Amy. Congratulations, ladies–your prizes are on their way.
Did I ever mention the gemstone class I’d signed up for? The first one had to be postponed, and little wonder, because the teacher was hit by a car, is all. Fortunately, Pam (not my sister, Pam) is all right, except for a few bumps and bruises, and the beginner’s class was held last night. I tried hard to talk myself out of going–and I’m oh-so-glad I didn’t succeed! Gemstones have opened a whole new world for me–the colors, the symbolism, the alleged healing properties. I’m not much for New Age ideas, unless they’re in a Nora Roberts novel. (I’m into “Dark Witch” as of this writing.) However, I do believe that everything in the universe is 1) made up of the same basic material and, 2) vibrating with the energy of that material. The folks on the Science Channel have another name for the phenomenon–quantum physics.
Anyway, I’m definitely intrigued. I’m something of an energy-healer, and the truth is, I can feel the vibrations of most stones by holding them in my hand. I know they’re doing something. But is the actual power in the stone itself? I don’t think so. No, the real magic is in the individual mind-heart–the stone merely focuses that power. This would explain while a gemstone might have one meaning for me and quite another for you, and both would be ‘right’. As I write this, I’m wearing a Labradorite–a lovely stone said to be magic. To me, it means taking back my power–not from another person or anything like that–but to consciously take charge and avoid frittering away my energy on things that really don’t matter. And if that isn’t magic, my friends, what is?
The horses have been going in at night for a few days now, staying snug and warm in their stalls, but come morning, when the Canadian Wrangler shows up, they’re ready for room service. Soon after, they’re turned out into the pasture, and do they ever love that. The snow doesn’t bother them, but Bernicie and the kit-kats are nonplussed, I can tell you. You can almost hear them thinking, What the heck…?!
On a sad note, Wendy and Jeremy had to put their cat, Claudia, down yesterday. She was old–17 or 18, I think–and she’d given all the love and warmth she had, without reservation. Isn’t that the wonder of animals? They love unconditionally, and without ceasing.
Seems to me, we could learn a thing or two from them.

So sorry about the loss of Claudia. 17 or 18 year old, wow! My dog was 17 (human years) when we had to put him down and it was so painful so I understand.
Enjoy the snow and stay warm!

We have a cat that is 16 yrs old, she moves slower but the younger cats get her to chase them around the house and it’s nice to see….If were watching television Pepsi that’s her name will come and let me pet for a few minutes and then she goes to my husband and usually sits with him maybe 45 mins to an hour…She has lost so much weight in the last 6 months, she goes outside on warmers days and enjoys the sun, she wears a leash when she is out,,, but I know the time is getting close so we pray each day we have her as a good thing a physical for her is one hundred and seventy five dollars and then to have a yearly rabbie shot…………but both of my husband and I lived on a fixed income. So we can’t afford to have her look at I know it sounds mean but that’s the way it is

WOW Snow *sigh* It is 70 here in TX today. I am hoping we have a few snow days this year as we lucked out last year with about 5
Awww Rainbow Bridge got another good one it sounds like. 17 or 18 is a nice long life and it sounds like she was cherished. I keep telling my mutt furrballs that they need to live as long as their pug sister did (15). I don’t know that it will happen but I can hope
Cool on the gemstones class. I wish I was that kind of crafty. Alas, it is just me and yarn that get along

Hey Linda , you keep mentioning EMDR sessions, can you please explain what it is? If you did before I must of missed it and I am curious now what it is. Thank you. Have a nice week.

Sorry to hear they had to put the cat down. That is a hard thing to do. Animals make the home warm.

Just rain in Abbotsford, BC here on the west side of the mountains. I like snow, but rain is so much easier as you don’t have to shovel it!
My favourite stone is moonstone. Love the power I feel when I wear it!
Enjoy the snow. Hope you get to your EMDR session! Let us know how it goes!

So “winter” has arrived for you…..I don’t miss the Central OR snow at all. The cold just got to be too much for my old joints. Of course now I have the rain here in the valley. But close to family and thats important.
Read Dark Witch and enjoyed it. Looking forward to you’re next book as always. Sorry about Wendy losing her beloved pet, its hard. Have a good day. Blessings.

Am loving this snow here in the Northwest! Gets me in the mood for the holidays, and to curl up with a good Linda Lael Miller book! Come January I will have had enough snow and be ready for spring so I can start working in the yard and garden again.
I am currently reading “Springwater Seasons” and next up is “A Springwater Christmas” just in time for the holidays.

So sorry about the cat. That is so hard. My dog is getting old and I don’t know how much longer he will be around. My sister says he will stay alive forever because he loves me so much. He cries when I am not home. I am looking forward to Big Sky Secrets.

I am so sorry to hear about Claudia being put down. My sister had to have her Labrador put down last summer when I was home for a visit. That dog has been part of the family for 12 years. I cried as hard as my sister. When I called my sister and she wasn’t home, I started talking to Cleo on the machine. My sister thought I was nuts but one day she was there just not by the phone when I called. She said Cleo ran to the front window and was looking for me! Loved that dog!
Animals love you no matter what and isn’t that the best thing there is.

Oh Linda, don’t I wish I were there or in Montana. I miss the seasons so much but if you like warm 9/10 of the time Florida is for you. I grew up in New England. I would love to walk in a field of snow not just flurries. Be snowed in with supplies of course. Travel by wagon or buggy (not horse yet don’t know how to ride. That gorgeous blue almost military style front with hood jacket/coat would go perfect. My life in florida is because I am married to a southener who doesn’t like the cold. I bought your book “The Outlaw’s Christmas” , late this afternoon. I can’t wait til tomorrow morning, to start reading it. If I start tonight I won’t sleep, I’ll want to read it thru til and morning and I can’t do that.

I hate that you forgot, but I am glad you forgot, versus my missing the winner’s announcement. And, I almot won…if only it had been another last name :-D.
Cogratulations to Gloria Bare and Amy!

That should be almost, not almot.

I just finished the Dark Witch. Loved it and immediately pre-ordered the next volume. It is too soon to order the third. I can’t wait. The second volume isn’t due until May 2013. Have a great holiday.

Woohoo! My last name wasn’t in the blog, but I’m the Amy that won…I got the email Monday about it and I was having a bad day, but that really picked me up! Yeehaw..thanks so much!

I agree with you – animals are the best. I had my knee replaced the 1st of Oct and my two dogs and cats that are house babies have been “taking care” of me everyday since. They are usually all in bed with me too at night. The cats usually on top of the covers and the dogs under – gets crowded a bit, but they are so wonderful in their care and love. They know I’m not up to par and they are right there looking at me like they are asking “What can I do for you now?”. Fortunately my hubby is also here and is taking wonderful care of me too. And he understands when I ask for something or need something, The Good Lord has blessed me with my hubby for sure. And with the Lord’s help I am getting along famously. Blessings galore at my house.

I always enjoy all your comments so much. I enjoy crystals (or stones) myself and have quite a collection. There are certain things I am drawn to that others might think is strange and it’s nice to hear that I’m not the only one! I also believe strongly that energy healing is very real. Anyway, thank you for the verification that I’m not the only one!
I’m sorry about Claudia. That’s a hard thing to do – pets are family and the loss is a tough one to endure, even when you know that Claudia is somewhere wonderful.

I miss the snow of Pennsylvania. I grew up in the Keystone state. I moved to Illinois with my family in my preteen years. Illinois is flat and open for the most part. We never get the snow we would get in PA. I miss it. Sorry to here your friends cat had to be put to sleep. Claudia was an exceptional cat to live so long and able to give joy and unconditional love to her owners as long as she did.

I love, love, love snow! We are still in drought conditions, but hope for moisture this winter.
Have a great week. Still can’t wait for the new books!
