It seems I’ve been the bearer of bad news lately, and the last thing I want to do is be a downer to you, my good and faithful friends.
On Monday afternoon, I bid good-bye to my last indoor pet, my kitty, Jitterbug. Her diabetes seemed to be under control, but then she went into kidney failure and it was all downhill from there. She’s at peace now, probably chasing around the green, green grass of Home with Sadie-beagle, ChaCha, Jitterbug’s sister, and sweet Bernicie, the Yorkie I lost last month. I’m grateful for every moment I shared with all four of my sweethearts, and that I was able to share the final, sacred moments with each of them in their turn.
I have more cheerful things to tell you, but I’ll save those for next week.
Due to all that’s been going on, there was no contest either last week or this one, but starting on Monday, there will be a brand new one up and running. All you have to do is comment, and you’re entered. Two winners will be chosen at random, notified by Jenni, and announced on the blog the following Monday. (Wow. That sounded pretty convoluted, didn’t it?)

Linda, I am SO sorry that you lost Jitterbug now. I pray you have comfort in your memories of them. You might need a bit of equine therapy? We miss you but certainly understand. I think we’ve all been through it multiple times ourselves. And it’s not any easier just because the animal owns someone other than you — I’ve cried over many losses among the pets of my family and friends. Take care and take your time!

Sorry for your loss. It is sometimes so devastating to lose a beloved pet, but to lose 2 within a couple of mo this is heartbreaking. Memories and pictures are a wonderful way to remember them.

So sorry for your losses. We bred and showed Newfoundlands for 35 years and occasionally had 15 Newfs. Each became a housepet at retirement. No matter how many you have each is very special in their own way and are family.

Oh Linda, I am so sorry to hear about your lovely pets. Its very hard when you loose one because they are family. We have a stray cat that has had four little kittens here and we are trying to get the kittens to eat so we can find homes for them. They are about 4 1/2 weeks old right now. We have been going out and playing with them to tame them and I will miss them when they are gone. They are under my neighbors building right now but if you go out and talk to them they come out to play. Just wish they would start eating kitty food so we can find them good homes.

I am so sorry to hear of her passing. They are like out furry children. I adopted a dog when my wonderful Sean passed a year ago, he was a rescue and seems to be afraid of women, my son he loves, well I rescued another one, who decided since his brother is afraid of me he will be too. I thought it would help him with being afraid, had the different affect. I am using lots of love to win them over. I adopted 2 cats and they love me so I guess 2 out of 4 isn`t so bad, hoping for 4 out of 4

Hey Linda I am so sorry for your loss of another furry friend, know how u feel, it is hard but u keep going but u do miss them, we haven’t had a dog since ours died, then we waited a long time to get another one, the kids r older now and they help with them so they got a lab mix pup, she is sweet but grows quick and my daughter is 14 and has a cat that she has had since she was like 3 and she loves her kitty to pieces and she doesn’t like to be in the house, we try and keep her in when it gets cold out and she gets mad at us and pees on the beds, so we try and have a warm spot with weather protection for her and she is happy, my daughter calls her miss kitty…. how is your mom doing? better I hope, sending love hugs thoughts and prayers always always xoxox

So sorry about your loss. We had a cat, Stinker, like that. He had diabetes and high thyroid. We had to give him Insulin twice a day for many months. Then he got a blood clot last year. I still miss him . I lost another cat 2 months ago. I want to get a new one. It helps to have another one to love. Good luck and take care of yourself.

We often get into a mindset that tells us our little fur babies will be around forever and we are never quite prepared to give them up. I can’t imagine the thought of not having my ‘shadow’ with me but he is almost 16 now and that is past the predicted lifespan for a dachshund. I must prepare myself. I just came in from hunting for my cat, Mater. I found him, but
he’s about an hour and 1/2 late for dinner. I’ve told him more

Linda, I’m sorry about the loss of your kitty. I don’t have any animals, but I wonder what would happen to my son if he lost his cat. I always thought cats were independent, but this is the lovingest cat I’ve ever seen. If my son calls him, he comes running and jumps up to be petted. Other times, he just comes and gets in the curve of my sons’ body and just lays there and waits for the petting…which he gets.
