I am a juror
At the moment, that’s all I can say, concerning the case, that is.
Since I was hanging around the courthouse all day, I missed my Weight Watchers meeting. Plus, I don’t have much to say.
I’m told we’ll probably be finished on Friday.
Cross your fingers.

I hope jury duty goes well and that you get an interesting case, you are lucky that it is going to be a short trial.

I know jury duty interferes w/your daily routine, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do, but I’ve never been called

Good luck. Hope it will be short and simple for you! God Bless as always!

The one time I was selected to be on a jury, the attorney for the defense “recused” me. It was a case of drunken driving and driving with an open container in the car, and I’m a physician. I guess he figured that I understood about blood alcohol levels way too well and he didn’t want me on the jury. How disappointing!
Comment
You knew too much! Literally.
I was once recused for a similar reason: the guy was up for about his 9th DUI. During the pre-selection process, the defense asked if there were any police officers in my family. I answered that there were two–if you don’t count the six or seven in previous generations.
He asked if I had an opinion. I replied that, yes, actually, I did. If the officer in question administered a breatholizer test and the guy failed it, it wasn’t rocket science to conclude he was drunk at the time. I was promptly relieved of my civic duty. :)Oh, WELL. I have absolutely NO sympathy for drunk drivers.

I’ve been called to jury duty several times during my life, but never seated on a jury. I can’t say I’m unhappy about that, but I do feel it’s our duty to do the best we can. I hope your case goes quickly and is easy for you to judge. Best of luck.

Missing WW’s just means you’ll have another whole week to lose more, unless they feed you there, and if they do…look out!
Have a good rest of the week.

I served on a jury last October for three days. It was an interesting experience for me since it was my first time. I do hope the next time I am called, I can get out of serving. I walk with a cane and the up & down going to and from the jury box to the holding room just about killed me. On the last day of the trial, just about after everything the lawyers would say, the other lawyers would object and we would have to leave the courtroom. It happened so many times, the judge started feeling bad about asking us to leave. When they say to take a 5 minute break… it was always at least 15 minutes.
I hope your service goes a lot better than mine did! Good Luck!

How exciting.
Sorry you missed Weight Watchers.

Linda: I think of jury duty as a privilege and an honour. Congratulations on taking on the duty. It’s not a great payday, it can be boring while the lawyers argue with the judge etc. the details of some trials can be gruesome and others are simply so stupid you have to wonder what the accused could have been thinking. But it’s a necessity in our world of innocent until proven guilty. Maybe it’ll give you an idea on a story, who knows.
Comment
Good luck Linda and hopee Friday will indeed be the end of it.
I’ve been on jury duty a few times. The last was 2 weeks.

Have fun with the Jury duty. Our feelings on right an wrong are different when you server. I was not sure I like it as knowing he was guilty and had to go with not as the state did not prove it . Hard……
Have a great day!
Comment
I hated jury duty. Did not feel it was my “duty” to judge my peers.
Comment
Maybe they will settle out of court! You can always use the rich payment you get for serving on the jury and get a cup of coffee. I’ve never been called, but my husband has. We had to plan last summer around the 3 month duty he had. It’s hard to plan much when you have to wait and wait, as you said, and then come back home. We are fairly new to this area so he got to visit with people he didn’t know. I guess there is an up-side to the situation.

Fingers and toes crossed!

I was a juror a few years ago and it was an interesting time.
However, I’m not into law stuff and sitting for 2 1/2 days in a
courtroom was fine once, but not again. Hope you enjoy your
time.

maybe something interesting will happen that you can use in a story

Lucky you, I have been called 3 or 4 times and never used. Husband called once and got an interesting case right away. Good for you to do your duty, I hope you find it interesting and rewarding.

I always wanted to serve on a jury seeing it as my civic duty as a citizen. Only received one jury summons and wasn’t selected. So, more time for reading!
Comment
My fingers, eyes & toes are crossed that your civic duty is over on Friday !

I have been a juror 4 times in California and Nevada. All were interesting experiences. In Nevada, those 70 1/2 years old are exempt. Disappointing.

Hope you have a short trial.

I just got called for District court. Hoping and praying that I don’t have to serve.
