Mowgli, my year old pup, has made his opinion clear: I wear too much black. To make his point, he got hold of one of my favorite slip-on sneakers while I was nearby, innocently enjoying a bubble bath, and chewed out the toe. The little stinker. And after I was careful enough to make sure my closet door was always closed, too. Fortunately, I have another pair. I saw no point in scolding him, though I did, of course, take away the shoe.
If you’re thinking Mowgli is a bad boy, you’re right. Fortunately for him, I happen to love bad boys, at least, those of the canine variety. Mowgli’s brother, Tule, at 5, is a gentleman, except when he and Mowgli get too excited when they’re playing their favorite game, wolves in the wild. They sure keep me busy, these two.
I’m revising the third story in the Carson series, “Forever a Hero”. Once I’ve finished, I’ll be returning to “North of Eden”, my Civil War book.
Mom will be moving soon, and I know life is going to be a lot easier for her once she’s made the transition to the new place. I’m happy because I’ll be able to see her a lot more often. My brave stepmother, Edith, is in rehab, recovering from a fall that left her in a neck brace. She’s 91, so it’s a serious injury, but she’s in good spirits, pioneer strong. Some of the bones in her neck were fractured, and she’s decided she doesn’t want to live alone in her big house anymore. Needless to say, we’re all both stressed out and grateful that we still have them both.
Prayers welcome.

Prayers on the way for both Mum and Stepmum. Our Queen has often said of her mother’s generation “they made them tough in those days. Now she’s nearly as old herself
Thanks goodness you have your naughty critters to take your mind off things. Sound like a couple of rascals. Plus I do like you in red.

I remember the Queen Mother with tremendous admiration. She was a brick during the Blitz, refusing to remove herself and the princesses to safer places. Instead, she had the many windows at Buckingham Palace blacked out, and said, if the people of London had to stay and endure the constant attacks, the royal family would stay, too. Class and courage, in one tiny lady. And her daughter is much the same.

Prayers coming your way. I hope your mom settles in at her new residence. As for your stepmother, I hope she heals and can find a new residence. It is not easy growing old. Lots of love coming your way also.

Do be grateful you have both your mothers. I lost my mom in January. She was 95 and still going strong but I think the small stroke in November took her will to live. She knew she wouldn’t be able to live at home, or the still active life she had, even though I was her driver. Losing my son in July and her in January has been tough. And I understand your stress! The stress will go away, but the gratitude stays forever!

Prayers are one thing we can do, and will pray for both Moms.
How well I know how pups will be pups. My “Taco” chewed the wires off both trucks and both trailers. We then actually cut PCV pipe and kept on them at all times they were not in use.
He is 3 now and doesn’t do that anymore. He does chase and sometimes catch small critters though. Right now we are dealing with his sister having been skunked.

Oh how our pets keep us entertained! Little stinker! Glad to hear your mom will be closer to you so you can visit her more often and that your stepmother is recovering. Sending prayers to both of them and to you as well. Have pre-order my book and can’t wait until it arrives. It is going to be one of my beach reading books on our Mexican vacation.

God is blessing you and your “Moms”, even as we speak. I had
a fractured neck (cours I was 20 and a bit sturdier) and IT WAS
NOT FUN!!! Mowgli reminds me of a teacup poodle I had once,
called Schoch who dragged all the shoes our of my closet and
piled them in a neat pile in the middle of the bedroom when he
was ticked off by me. Only thing he chewed was the bottom of
my beautiful suede coat and left it hanging in the closet. I didn’t realize it until I was heading out to my car and it felt very breezy behind me! It’s spring. Time to brighten up the
wardrobe!
