Jenni is walking the dog at the moment, a high priority around here. When she gets back, I’ll have her bring me the ‘hat’ so I can draw out the Sam O’Ballivan winner!
Some of you are curious about the weight loss plan–it’s Food Lovers Fat Loss Program, the one from the infomercial. (I know, I know, but once in a while, you get something from one of those 1-800 outfits and it’s actually worth the money! An example is my TurboWave convection oven, which I use all the time, but I digress.) I don’t know how much I can tell you without violating some copyright law (believe me, as a person who earns their living by creative effort, I have great respect for such boundaries). Basically, it’s a matter of balance–“fast” carbs, like potatoes, balanced with “slow” carbs, like green beans or most fruits, and a lean protein, plus at least three healthy snacks and at least eight glasses of water. No food is really forbidden, so this is a plan I can live with–it’s definitely NOT a diet, but a lifestyle. Another thing I’m doing is having myself checked out for hormone deficiency–obviously, we want to avoid HRT, as commonly thought of, because the hormones prescribed are worse than the problem. What I’m looking into are bio-identical hormones–they are not drugs, but supplements that actually replace the hormones we lose as we age. I’m very excited about what the research shows, and it’s important to note that men can benefit from this therapy as well as women. I’ll tell you more after I see my practicioner on the 21st.
The bean soup I mentioned yesterday is simmering away on the stove. Delicious! And totally healthy, too. (Not to mention that it can be composted. I’m very big on composting, as I plan to raise my own salads come spring.)
Speaking of spring, it’s almost time to get those seedlings started. I have a grow-light gizmo set up in the garage, ready to go, and a small greenhouse that still needs to be assembled–Jeremy’s on it, so no worries there. I’m a fresh-vegetable fiend, so I’m going to LOVE this. (You know me and bulbs and seeds. )
Winner announced soon–hang in there.
