A Wonderful Day

Thanksgiving was a lovely day, with Wendy and Jeremy and their two beautiful dogs, Margie and Lily, present for a nice traditional dinner and lots of good fun.  I was pretty lazy; the kids did most of the cooking, and that was fine by me.  Of course the best thing about any holiday is a chance to share it with people you love, and I sincerely hope your celebrations were as joyous as ours.

I didn’t think I ate that much, but I must have been in a turkey coma, because I slept so deeply, I had a hard time waking up this morning.  :)  I guess I must have gotten more tryptophan than I thought.

I made a quick grocery store run today, but I steered WAY clear of the Black Friday frenzy everywhere else.  Since I’m coming down with a slight cold, I decided to make a batch of chicken soup–it really IS medicinal, you know–and I have a big kettle of bone broth simmering away, too.  I’ll tell you more about that next week, though I’m sure many of you are aware of the phenom.  For now, it’s enough to say, this cowgirl loves a cup of homemade bone broth when she’s feeling a little less than great.

I’ve also been listening to books, of course, because I am ALWAYS listening to books.  I have been on a YA kick for a while, so I took in “Circus Mirandus” by Cassie Beasley (wonderful story, full of magic!) and “The Whizbang Machine”, by Danielle A Vann.  This is the first of a series and I can’t wait for more–nonstop action and some spots so tight I wondered how the characters would get out of them.  Working with the Civil War every day, specifically the Battle of Gettysburg, I’m happy to listen to books for young folks just for a change.

Hope you enjoy your weekend, and your leftovers–the best part of a turkey dinner.  :)

    Hi Linda
I have been “MIA” for quiet some time. Working on my books and making Christmas for all my children ,grandchildren and great grandchildren. Glad to be back and to hear about your Thanksgiving and all the good news regarding the Civil War book. Can hardly wait :-) e had a wonderful Thanksgiving as well – absolutely nothing like spending quality time with family. Good luck to the winners of the next contest

Linda, do you take Zinc? It is good when you’re getting a cold and it is good to keep you from getting a cold. Just one tablet a day keeps the colds away.

I hope you get over yours before it gets a hold on you.

And, I’m glad you had your “kids” with you for Thanksgiving.

    Take care!

We had a quiet Thanksgiving. Just the 4 of us. The oldest stays in Seattle hosting Thanksgiving for several friends who would be alone. Love her spirit. My brothers couldn’t make it. Plenty of turkey. Just enjoying the time.

The only problem was I ate to much, other than that had lots of fun cooking and just being with my wonderful daughter, son in-law, granddaughter, and grandson. Thanksgiving was great, so glad yours was also.

I know what you mean about eating. It made me sleepy also. No black Friday shopping for me. I do not crowds. Have a wonderful weekend.

Well I can say I didn’t eat to much on Thanksgiving because I was not feeling well, stomac issues. This afternoon I am having my family over for dinner for Thanksgiving and sister’s birthday and I will make up for lost time with the eating. Have a great weekend.

I’m having Thanksgiving again today (Saturday) my sister and her family are coming over and my parents.

We did have a turkey on Thursday and my parent came over.

    I do all the cooking.

I need to make my chocolate chip cookies before I can put the turkey in. I make these at every holiday.

    Hope you feel better.

Glad you enjoyed Thanksgiving, it was the first time in four years my parents have been here. As someone that worked retail I avoid the crowds I will do most of my shopping online.

I visited family for Thanksgiving, so don’t have any leftovers! I think I’ll have to make a small turkey dinner just for me to get some !

Glad you had a happy turkey day. I regretted not taking enough leftovers from our dinner at a friend’s house.
