Recently, I mentioned a book I read, called “Little Girls”. I’ve finished it now, and I’ve got to tell you two things: first, there is some very disturbing stuff in the story and, second, the ending is pretty ambiguous. You are, of course, perfectly capable of deciding what you want to read. So, this is merely a heads up. If you’re into horror, you will probably like this book. While I happen to love ghost stories and various kinds of suspense, I’m not so big on horror. Up to you. Please take note: I am not panning this author’s book–I know how hard it is to write anything. The story is well-plotted, the characters are well drawn.
Now, I’ll shut up about it.
We awakened to a miracle here in Spokane this morning–RAIN. Right in the middle of a forecast predicting nothing but unrelenting sunshine. Trust me, I’ve got nothing against sunshine–I thrive on it and even tend to get blue when it’s absent for too long. That said, we’ve been dealing with a drought, drying out the grass and raising the ever-present risk of wildfires. Therefore, you can probably guess what my first entry in this morning’s gratitude journaling was–RAIN.
Even more than the rain, I appreciate the reminder that, beyond fear and appearances, there is God.
There is a book I can recommend without any hesitation at all: “The Untethered Soul”, by Michael A. Singer. WOW. I loved his new one, “The Surrender Experiment” a lot, so I went back to read the previous offering. And it’s excellent.
I probably won’t blog tomorrow–but you never know. I will be here on Monday, however, to announce our new winners.
Be happy.

Thank you for your post! Hope Bernice is happier today. After that scary bath. I have 3 doggies. 18 year old Staffordshire Terrier, if gets partial baths daily. Due too his incontinence. Poor baby, gets around good, little confused at times. Loves to walk around my kitchen table a least 30 times a day. Longctable too. I have a 14 year old plot hound and a 3 year old resuced pit bull. She wants to play with the plot hound, but he growls at her. She is so gratful to have a loving home. Scared of birds though. Humid and hot here in N.C.. Went to Cape Hatterus for a week. Went by to fast. Did not know The Lighthouse at Hatterus was the largest and oldest in the U.S. . Beautiful Island! Have a good weekend. God Bless!

My neighbor said it was so hot yesterday, that he put a water soaked wash cloth on his cat. The car was “crying” pitifully, till he “soaked” him down, and then, he stopped…the cat, not the neighbor. Now, that is hot when a cat likes water.
I pray you have a great weekend, get more rain, and send some our way…not a lot, but some.
Comment
That should have been his cat, not his car. It is my car that “cries” pitifully, and a wet wash cloth won’t help it.
And, Linda…right after I said that you could send us some rain, but not a lot, it suddenly started pouring, out of the blue…no pun intended…and after just a few minutes, it stopped. Did you do that????

If I read a book or watched a Horror movie , it would give me night mares , always has . we carried our car to the car wash yesterday , then went to W M .a thunder storm came up .& now our car need a another wash job , that is the second time recently . we surely need the rain but next time we’ll go strait home ! Kind of like the Sat. Blogs . Have a GOOD WEEK END all ….

so pleased to hear that at last you’ve gotten some much needed rain. Our God is an on time God, never too late ,never too early, always right on time. Of course His time is not our timing many times but even when we don’t “agree” with His timing He knows what’s best. I love the old song,” Further along We’ll Know All About” To me it helps when we don’t understand. All that said I’m grateful that you finally got some rain. Also thanks for the heads up on the one book, I can’t not read “horror” stories. I like to “feel” good when I finish a book so I’m picky about what I read. Have a great week end and look forward to your next posting.

I forgot I wanted to add something about being “picky” Since I am picky about what I read and wanting to feel good when I finish a book– That’s why I love your books. I always feel good and am ready to always start the next one. Thank you for your wonderful stories.

Linda, I believe the magic word this year is “rain”. In western Canada we are in desparate need of water. Our forest are burning faster than the military, firefighters, water helicopters and water planes can get them out. One of our national parks, Jasper in in flames and today we are just so clouded with the smoke. North America badly needs our prayers.
Enjoy the rain and please send us some.

The rain has finally stopped here in Southwestern Indiana – at least for a few days. Glad you are having rain.

I know I will not be reading the book called Little Girls. I don’t read any horror books and bad things that happen to kids. I am so glad y’all got some rain. Thanks for the thumbs up on the books good or bad.

I wish we could send some of that rain out west. That’s all it did for the whole week before the 4th. My daughter even asked if the sun was coming out. She flew in for 4 days.
Enjoy your weekend.

Well I will be happy to send you all the rain you want. We had a pretty day today and we finish getting the mulch around the pond but we have more rain coming tomorrow. Our lawn is very wet and its like walking on water. I really need to mow the lawn but if it rains again tomorrow and Monday, I want get a chance to mow it. We have to mow puddles. Everyone in the neighborhood was mowing today but we were working on that fish pond and I have to say it looks a lot better.

Thanks for the heads up on the disturbing stuff..We get enough of that in the news. Have a good weekend.

RA
IN….it can be a good thing as here in North Texas we were in desperate need also. We’ve had our fair share for awhile, as I still have standing water in my yard and driveway. The only downside is the mosquitoes! Really don’t like them! And the frogs, huge ones that make a lot of noise.
But my grass is green and lush,, so there is a positive, as I like green grass.

Thanks for the book reviews!

Here in NE Ohio we’ve had enough rain to warrant contemplation of a lumber order for an ark! Having said that, I know I am blessed not to have flood damage because we live high on a hill and are not in any danger of flood damage.
May your sprinkles continue without any floods Linda. Have a terrific weekend!

Rain yea !!! It feels good to rain.

I joined you in celebrating our rain today… I even went so far as to splash in a couple of puddles on my outings today! Thank you Jesus for the rain and the sun… we need each equally and the scales have been tipped away from the rain long enough! I pray that it helped in getting control of the fire by Deep Lake! I did hear of several more around Northport that were started yesterday by the lightning. I’ve been too busy today to check on the status of the fires but I have been keeping the firefighters and land owners as well as the wild critters who call those woods home; all in my prayers. Have a BEAUTIFUL AND COOLER weekend!

Thank for your thoughts on books. You recommended the Blur trilogy. I looked it up and bought the first two in the series and loved them both. Now I’m waiting until spring for the third in the series. I can’t wait. I just got your book, “One Last Look” on Audible.com. Somehow I missed it when originally published. I know that I read at least one other book with these characters. I am enjoying this book very much. It is like visiting and old friend to find a book about characters discovered many years ago. I will be searching for other books from this series. Thanks so much for all of your books and recommendations.

Thank you for your honesty. I am not into horror either. Thank goodness for rain!

Yes, I’m so thankful for our rain!! It was really humid , but at
this point, I’ll take anything wet. Horses loved it, too. I don’t
like scary anything in the entertainment department, so I don’t
read those books or see those movies. But, I appreciate your]
info for those that do. I’m with Dixie; I like feel good stuff.
I worked in an ER and with law enforcement and although I
like medicine and police work, the blood, guts and horror is not
entertainment for me. Don’t think I’ll read the new Harper Lee
novel either. I loved the book and movie “To Kill a Mockingbird” and want that memory to stay right where it is.

We got some rain too. I was very welcome.

Thanks so much for telling of your moose and calf sighting and your humming bird buzz. Maybe if you hold a flower in your hand it might even try to sip the nectar. How great that would be.
I am almost finished with ‘The Marriage Season’ and looking forward to ‘Christmas in Mustang Creek’. Always enjoy your stories. The plots and characters always come to life.
