Winners, the cold from hell, and how I spent my weekend

First, the winners.  Gwyn Beams and Janet Clark, come on down!  :)  If you aren’t Gwyn or Janet, do not despair–all you need to do is comment and you’ll be entered in the new contest, which begins now.  (Yes, at this very moment.)  Make a comment and, presto, you’re in.  We do this every week, so be persistent.

Not to complain or anything–brace yourself, obviously I’m fixin’ to complain–I have been under the weather since Friday, and if anything, the bug is worse today.  This after staying home all weekend, except for a brief foray for groceries and craft supplies, both vital to my wellbeing, taking Dayquil, shuffling around the house in slippers, a ratty robe and bed-hair, periodically smearing myself with Vicks Vapor Rub, and listening to favorite podcasts.  (Currently, those are: “Half Size Me”, a very good program about weight loss and maintenance and healthy living in general, “The Unmistakable Creative”, “Tips of the Scale”, “The One You Feed”, an inspirational podcast based on the black wolf/white wolf fable*, “The Moth”, a perennial favorite, “The Paranormal Podcast”, and “Real Ghost Stories Online”.)

I had big plans to watch a movie–“Malificent”, from the Disney people–and read actual books, but it didn’t happen.  Focusing is a challenge for me anyway, and with a cold, it’s SO not gonna happen.

There’s chicken soup from Safeway’s deli in my fridge, and I think it’s calling my name.  :)  According to Mary Ann, cousin and trail boss, it’s delicious stuff, with amazing curative powers.

We’ll see.

*If ten of you ask about the black wolf/white wolf story, I’ll recount it on tomorrow’s blog.

So to hear you are under the weather; feel better soon. I love wolves and am fascinated by your black wolf/white wolf story. What is that all about? Take care of yourself. Some chicken soup, hot tea with honey and ginger ale were always some of my Mom and Gram’s favorite remedies for a cold.

Yes please, I’d like to hear the black wolf/white wolf story!

So sorry you are not feeling well. I’ve heard that it’s the black pepper in the soup that makes a difference, so if yours isn’t very spicy you might add a few grinds of the pepper mill when you re-heat your soup.

Hot tea with lemon and honey helps too, as does cuddling with a favorite furry friend. (Wow, try saying that three times fast!)

    Feel better soon ~

I’m asking!! If you’re up for it of course… if not, it can wait. SO sorry for your cold, but chicken soup definitely the way to go… also greens and meats…gotta fortify that body!!
If your throat is sore, try two Bayer aspirin (others don’t work) and let them MELT in your mouth and then swallow. Wait as long as you can (come on suck it up – at least 30 seconds) before drinking anything. It usually works pretty well for that.

Hang in there Lady… you’ll beat it yet. I hear they are lasting longer this year…. so be patient and keep up the fight..

    Love and blessings
    Lynn

Colds are from the pits of hell. Hate them. Have managed to avoid them for a long time with a lot of hand washing and such. I am so greatful. I am not a good cold patient, nor tolerant of such. Hope you are better. They say (who ever they is) that treat a cold and it lasts 5 days, don’t treat it and it lasts 5 days. LOL. Hope you are better very soon. I would be whining loud. Bless you bunches.

Linda, lemon grass tea. Along with lemon tea sweetened with honey and a shot of good ole Jack Daniels. As much garlic in your soup as you can stand. My Momma’s cure for colds and flu. Works. Take care and God bless.

I highly recommend ”Malificent”. I watched it with my daughter this past weekend and we loved it. I am not going to give anything away, but it has a magnificent twist on the story of “Sleeping Beauty”.
