Winners and Puppy News

This week’s winners are Joanne Balinski and Sharon Sovereign.  Both will receive an autographed book.  As usual, the new contest begins immediately.  For those of you who are new, you simply need to comment, and you’re entered.  Two winners will be chosen at random, notified, and announced on next Monday’s blog.

I’ve had one of those good/difficult days–got plenty of writing done, but my new dog, Tule, is ill.  It’s some sort of doggy flu, I’m told.  Tule was a stray, flown up from California, where there is evidently an outbreak of the canine bug.  He’s at the vet’s, getting fluids and antibiotics.  He has to spend the night and tomorrow away from home, and that hurts my heart, but the most important thing, of course, is his health.  Everybody’s optimistic, so I’m keeping my chin up, but I’m definitely worried.

Glad to report that my mother is doing better, now that she has a regular caregiver and is receiving her breathing treatments night and morning.

Sister Sally was a tremendous help while she was here.  All three of my sibs are helping out, and I am so grateful.

More tomorrow, my friends.

So glad your mother is doing better. It is alway something with pets. I had my kitten into the vet last week for some shots and he ended up having an ear infection. He started out life with ear mites and they treat him with a monthly meds for fleas and ear mites but I guess the mites caused an infection. Now we are treating him twice a day with ear drops for his ears and have to flush them once a week. Its been fun so far.

Prayers that Tule will be back to bouncy quickly. I understand caring for your mom and how draining it is if you have to do it by yourself. I was part time caregiver for my mom, and we hired a terrific woman to help, but sadly she passed last month at the age of 95. We’re heartened that she had a long, wonderful life. So glad to hear your mom is doing better.

Glad to hear you mother is doing better. Enjoy every minute you can with her. Fifteen years ago tomorrow I lost my mother. I was the tender age of 38. There was so much more I was supposed to have shared with her. I still miss her every day.

Sorry to hear about Tule. I sure hope that he gets better soon. I lost my baby on Dec. 14th and I still miss him every day. I had him for almost 17 years – he would have been 17 on March 24th. Don’t see myself replacing him. My husband and I both agreed that this would be the last inside dog. I have had one for the entire 28 years we have been married and now it is time for us to be able to go & do without having to worry about a little one being left with my daughter or in a kennel. She would take care of him but only the bare minimum as she is hardly ever home.

Enough depressing thoughts, glad you were able to get some writing done. Waiting for more books to download.

    Your devoted fan,

    Niki Davis

Hope your little dog gets better soon! He’s lucky to have you to take care of him.
Glad your mom is settling in and getting her breathing treatments as prescribed. We are going thru a similar situation with my dad. He is in a care facility now due to confusion and disorientation. Since he has been there, he is eating a lot better, getting his breathing treatments as he should and getting physical therapy. He is so much stronger and healthier now. My siblings are all close, so we can all visit dad regularly and do things with him. It is all such a blessing!
    Take care of yourself, too!
