#1 NYT bestselling author Linda Lael Miller

Winners and….I’m baaaaack!

Whoop-de-do, I’m back.  I’m myself again.  My doctor took me off my ADD meds and the fog has lifted–hallelujah!

Our winners, who should have been announced yesterday, are Kim Rudisill and Darlene Holley.  Apologies and congratulations, ladies.  As soon as you’ve responded to Super Jen’s email, your prizes will be on their way.  Technically, the new contest started yesterday as well, but it’s up and running, just like always, so go ahead and comment.  That’s all you have to do to enter.  I’ll announce the next winners on Monday.  (Or maybe Tuesday.)  :)

Yesterday was also my beloved niece Angela’s birthday (she’s little Gibson’s mom), so here’s a belated have-a-happy-one.  :)  Sweetheart, you are smart, you are beautiful, and you are one fine mama.  In case you haven’t guessed, your Aunt Lindy loves you mucho.

Around the homestead: we had a little badly needed rain this morning–I woke to hear it thrumming on the roof and the floor of the deck.  (Excuse me, Lord, I know You’re busy, but we could use more, please…)

I’m still working on my Marie Antoinette audiobook binge–while the facts remain the same from biography to biography, the interpretations differ.  All authors seem to agree, however, that the queen was, for the most part, a victim of bad (really bad) spin.  Yes, she made her share of mistakes–who hasn’t?–but when you consider that she was just 15 years old when she was tossed into the French court–or, as I would call it, the pit of vipers–she didn’t do so badly.  She was generous to a fault, a fact for which she never received credit, by the way, and she was also incredibly (and understandably, given her tender age and sheltered upbringing in the court of Austria) naive.  She trusted the wrong people, placed far too much confidence in the good judgment of the general population, committed an indiscretion or two and, yes, she spent too much money.  (If that’s the criteria for beheading, I’m doomed.)  Here’s what I wish: that Benjamin Franklin or Thomas Jefferson had brought her back to America when they left France.

Hi Linda, very happy to hear you are now on an even keel. My late husband was on handfuls of meds twice a day, so I can relate to your blur.
I agree with you thank that poor girl was set up to fail in her role as queen. First of all she had no one to fall back on for advice from her world. The king was a useless kid. There just was no true confidante that could help either of them.
Will you be publishing a story about her with the real facts of her life? That would be an awesome historical story that would definitely be in my library.
I have almost all your stories on paper. I find reading an e-reader or laptop so tiring and not as much suspense to it.
I’m wired that way or so my family say to me.
    Enjoy med free days ahead,Jeannette

    Hello Linda,

It’s good to see you back. I wish you well without the meds. It would be nice if I could go off of mine, but I think I like myself a little better with the very low dosage I’m now on. I’m not sure but I think my family may agree with me on this subject too! Someday maybe I can be med free!

You do a wonderful job defending Marie A. I think she needed you by her side back in her day! I believe she did a fantastic job considering all she was up against so I’m with you in her defense!

Mother Nature is really confused these days. Perhaps she needs some good meds? It seems as though we haven’t had much of a summer here in the upper midwest this year. We usually are in the 90’s along with sweltering humidity. I’m not complaining mind you, but, it’s been on the cool side and quite bearable. The leaves are giving up early though. Don’t know what’s up with that! We must put our house on the market in the next week or so and would like the gardens to stay looking pretty just another month. Rain would be nice here too, so if you do any rain dances, mention Northern Illinois as well please!

Here’s to another fine week. I hope you remain happy and healthy! Until next time….

    Cheers,
    Laurie

I know you hear this a lot but I am one of your #1 fans!! Have been for years! I have read just about every book you have wrote. At present I am reading Big Sky secrets. The final book in the Parable Montana series.I dearly loved the Mckettricks series both of them! And the stone creek series. I am hoping you come out with more from either one of those! That would be awesome. But anything you write is awesome! I have not read one of your books yet that I did not love. Thanks for writing such awesome books that takes me away from my troubles and takes me away to some very exciting places for a while! And I can go back there anytime I want( I have collected everyone of your books! Yours are the ones that I won’t trade to anyone). Hope to hear from you! Cathy Dixon

    Linda,
So glad you are feeling more like your old self. Life is way too short to have to go through it in a “fog  “. The information is fasinating on Marie Antoinette. Now I don’t have to read it for myself  What good news regarding the wrangler’s improved condition and the baby’s good progress. Have a wonderful week.

Glad to have you back! I don’t know how you are going to feel without your ADD medicine. I have (as a retired teacher) dealt with many students that were on meds for ADD. Usually they didn’t have much of an appetite. These were elementary students. I do know it made a world of difference in their behavior and their school work!
I’ll be interested to see how you feel and perform without it.
