Winners and an update

First order of business: this week’s winners are: Mary Cresto and Linn Carlite.  Congratuations, Mary and Linn!  And now, for those of you who may be new to our little online town, Parable, there is a new contest underway right now.  All you need to do is enter a comment, and you’re in.  As a reminder, winners will be notified by Jenni first, then announced on the blog.

Where have I been????  Up to my eyeballs in revisions, putting in several 10 to 12 hour days  AND loving every minute of it!

Recently, I’ve realized there are some things I haven’t mentioned lately.  For example: my passion for rocks and crystals.  YES.  I still love them, still use them.  I find certain favorites, like moss agate, Labradorite and fluorite, as calming as ever.  The Course in Miracles: still a believer, still love that book.  The Daily Audio Bible: I’m in my 4th year and listen intemittently, since I still suffer from a spiritual allergy to certain parts of the Old Testament.  I find Brian Hardin’s amazing commentaries and prayers as inspiring as ever.  Artist Trading Cards: still make them, but I’ve been too busy lately, and I have some catching up to do with my swaps.  Pyramids: I’ve gotten away from that, but my pyramid is right here in the office and I definitely plan to start using it again.

Weight Watchers is going well.  Still in there plugging, and getting a real boost from podcasts like “Half Size Me”.

My daffodils are just beginning to bloom, and the tulips are up, so I’m sure they’re not far away.  It seems that the older I get, the more I LOVE flowers.  I just placed an order for bulbs, mostly dinnerplate dahlias, and I’m eager to get them into the ground, now that it’s thawed out a little.  I own two of those Aerogarden things, the indoor seed-starters with grow lights, and I have baby tomato plants (yum, tomatoes!  my mouth is already watering) in one and various herbs in the other.

All’s well here on the Triple L, and I sincerely hope it’s the same in your neck of the woods.

Glad to hear you listen to the Bible. Don’t be afraid of the Old Testament. It’s rich in prophecies about Jesus. May I suggest you listen to or watch Joseph Prince on TBN or Daystar. He is one of the most anointed preachers of this generation. God bless you.

Linda You are the best. You have helped my recovery from my 12 surgery. I’m a BKA. And you have helped more than you will ever know. With your books I can put myself there in their town and not here in my pain.
    Thank you for that!!!!

My flower bulbs are coming up as well, but had to cover them with more leaves because of frost. And yesterday we had 5.8 inches of snow. That is Chicago weather for you. Tonight rain and maybe some thunder.

Congratulations to Mary Cresto and Linn Carlite! Enjoy!

Linda, it’s good to hear from you. It seems it has been a while.

I’m glad you’re still interested in rocks and such. Rocks were one of my first collections, as they were free. :) Bottles was another one of my first collections, and I still collect both.

I’m glad you were just busy and not sick. Enjoy the warmer weather.

Congratulations to this week’s winners! As always, I love your chatty blogs. I now live just north of Tucson, but as a native Seattleite, I miss all the beautiful flowers I grew in my gardens in the PNW. Linda, have you made the trip over west for the Tulip Festival near LaConnor? The farms are spectacular with all the colors and varieties of tulips and other flowers. You can get great deals on bulbs and can see the flowers in bloom before buying. A great way to spend a day or two away from home in the spring.

I’m in the process of ordering and reading some of your older books, the Women of Primrose Creek series and the Springwater Seasons series. Love everything you write!

I’ve found that the Old Testament is a lot easier when I read it in the Message. It can be a little off-putting the first time, but it puts things in language I can understand for some of the hard to understand passages!

Just a note about the Dalias. Do a little reading about how to plant them before diving in. Dalias take a little extra work and care, but are so worth it. They often have to be taken up in the Fall, or have special insulation, depending on where you live. Happy Spring!

It’s nice to hear again, still can’t wait to get book three, Bec’s story. Have had to find other authors, and some I’m liking some not so much, but I try to keep an open mind. I recently found Book Bub, and that has been a great way to try some new authors without spending a fortune. Of course, when I do find one I like I have to hunt down everything they have written.
Here in Texas our weather is Bi-Polar, in the 80’s today but due thunderstorms later this week. So much standing water it’s crazy, but our lake levels are still very low.

Dear Linda, U brought something to mind when you said the older you get the more you love flowers – Growing up I lived in a house that had a detached garage and driveway, on either side we had gardens (one with floweres and trelices of Red Roses and the other tomatoes, rubarb, that grew wild and plentiful). My mother was working in flower garden and I told her I would never be old enough to work in a garden, pretty to look at but not work in one. The other matter is tomatoes, I lived in Massachusetts. As I have traveled the country with the military and now live in Florida I have found only the Northern states across the board can grow Great tomatoes. The Southern state’s Not so much. My grocery store sells different kinds the ones I like the best is Campelli tomatoes that come from Canada, the ones same brand name from Texas not so much. My guess is your tomatoes are some of the best. My mouth is watering. Debbie G.

Daffodils?! Tulips?! Oh, my! I don’t expect to see tulips or daffodils (or any OTHER sort of green!) until sometime in July!
Here in Prince Edward Island, we’ve had one of the worst winters on record, with a total accumulation so far of 17.199 FEET.

Good thing I have a stash of your books to reread and enjoy on stormy days, when the whole Island’s been shut down for 2 or 3 days at a time.

    Keep’em coming, please! :-D

it’s way too early to do anything in the garden in NE Ohio Linda! I’m still enjoying feeding my downy, red breasted and Pileated woodpeckers with seed and fruit filled suet. They love it! Feeding the little birds too and enjoying their presence in the yard. It won’t be long now and we can clean our 3 season enclosed porch and spend time out there! Happy Spring!

Linda, I really enjoy reading your blog and going on your facebook page. I’ve been reading your books well lets just say for sometime. Years ago I belonged to the Doubleday Book Club and every month I would look for a new book of yours, if not I would pass for that month. I loved reading your books and reread the books over and over again. When I moved a few years ago, I think the books moved too, to their own place somewhere else, lol! I still can’t find them, boy am I ever disappointed.
Glad to hear Weight Watchers is still doing you good. My weight goes up and down on its own. I eat, weight gain, don’t eat, weight loss, lol!
I’ve always loved flowers! You’re right the older I get I love them more. I love the mixture than just one kind. I think I plant every kind there is at the nursery, not really but it looks that way. When I moved to this place a few years back the next year tulips came up on their own. The first year here one tulip came up. The second yr. another one came up. It went this for five yrs I had five tulips. A young kid was walking by and picked one, the next yr and ever since none come up. It’s kind of creepy like the ghost/spirit got mad.
    Keep up the good work!

Spring arrived here in Michigan. It is suppose to get up to 51 today, after we start the day out with freezing rain. However, they are now using the “s” word (snow) for tomorrow. Guess March doesn’t want to go out as a lamb!.

All is well here at the Mari-Anna and we are almost thawed. Even reports of the awnry slithery creatures have been sighted – guess that mean I need to get my shotgun to guard my little Bue boy.

Have a wedding this weekend that is right up your alley – boots and jeans. I have even going to wear my Stetson. Love it when I have occasions to wear it. The weather is supposed to be a little cool so that should make it comfortable.

My little Bue boy turned 16 years old yesterday. He is 95 percent blind, 98% deaf and still my little baby. He got some bacon for his birthday yesterday. Poor thing gets lost in the house when he can’t find me.

Well guess that is about it from here. Have a great rest of the week.

Nothing better than the fresh tomatoes , we eat more of them in cucumber , tomato & onion salad marinated in red wine vinegar & extra virgin olive oil , salt & pepper . Sometimes a little fresh basil . Delicious.

We kind of got blasted last night here in the Oklahoma City area. We’d gone to our daughter’s for dinner. Got home to no electricity–a first in the 5 years we’ve lived here–so we didn’t notice the busted out skylight until this morning.

Cattle drives rarely went more than ten or twelve miles a day, as the cattle had to be given time to rest and graze. A drive from Texas to Montana could take up to five months.
