#1 NYT bestselling author Linda Lael Miller

Open the eyes of my heart…

That’s my prayer today.  (It’s also the track that is playing at the moment, from a CD called “Beautiful Worship”.  Yesterday, I rocked to Aretha Franklin belting out gospel songs.)  I will definitely order the new Alan Jackson CD, pronto–thanks for the suggestion!

Yesterday was another good writing day–I’m LOVING this book, “Big Sky Secrets”, even though writing it has been a lot like giving birth–painful at times.  The feelings run deep and yet I WILL keep the eyes of my heart open, with God’s help.

This weekend I’m heading for Ellensburg with daughter Wendy to attend the big Western Art Show–looking forward to it so much.

My friend, artist/actor Buck Taylor, (he was Newly on “Gunsmoke”) is doing a painting for me, one I commissioned.  It’s a portrait of Michael Landon, as Little Joe Cartwright.  My first love, and second favorite cowboy of all times.  (My dad is in first place.)

Our weather continues to swing wildly between dreary and gloriously sunny–it’s been a wild ride.  :)  Some of the planting has been done, though, and I’m already pouring over catalogs for tulips and daffodils to plant in the fall.  I need another hundred acres to accommodate all the flowers I want to grow.

Off to a doctor’s appointment, followed by an afternoon in Three Trees, with my story people.

Be blessed, and know that you are loved.

What is painful about writing? Is it you get emotional about the characters and/or in which direction to take them? Love all your cowboys & their women :)
    Blessings,

My children were all named after my favorite television characters. Amanda, after Amanda Blake — Miss Kitty on Gunsmoke, Michael after Michael Landon and Jeremy after Bobby Sherman’s character on “Here Come the Brides”. If my husband had known, I would have never been able to pull this off!!

    LINDA
speaking of Michael Landon, I had the BIGGEST teen crush on him in the 1960s. pics on the wall, etc etc. EVERYONE KNEW I loved him so. well in 1972 I had the chance to attend then governor Ronald Regan inauguration in Sacramento Ca. and guess who was a staying in the same hotel, down the hall. I was dying her. the last nite he was in a restaurant and my friends urged me to go to his table and get an autograph. I worked up the courage, and he signed my program, but I all I saw was the top of his head. good grief. my first hollywood crush. I still love the old ones tho, Gary Cooper, Wm Holden and Glenn Ford. no matches today sorry to say.

I am a HUGE Alan Jackson fan, I have his 2nd gospel CD, which is very good of course, but I will say I like his first one just a tad better, but good nonetheless! I think Rhonda Vincent has an awesome voice and I got her gospel CD a few months ago, it’s wonderful too…recorded in her childhood church in Missouri I believe. Still can’t wait to read Big Sky Summer!! :)
