New question

Prizes will be awarded next Wednesday, November 21.  And here’s the question: Have you ever seen a ghost?  If not, has anyone you know had an experience like that?

I know, I know–that one comes out of left field, but there you go.  I’m full of surprises–and a few other things, according to my critics.

More apologies are apparently in order for the rodeo mistake.  I’m one imperfect human being, no denying that.  I was raised around rodeos and rodeo cowboys, BUT, for a great many years, I was away from the sport.  Lately, I’ve been doing research, because things have really changed.  For instance, when I was young, we had rodeo clowns.  Now, we have bull fighters.

Cross your fingers.  There’s a possibility that another movie might be made.  :)  Wouldn’t that be cool???  And if the movie is a success, there might even be a TV series about the McKettricks!

I’m into the new book, “Big Sky Wedding”, and I’m loving it.  My goal is two chapters a week, since the holidays are coming up and the NFR is in December, and so far I’m on target.

I’m off to Larry and Mary Ann’s for a steak dinner in a few minutes–I love any meal I don’t have to cook.  :)

More tomorrow.

yes, I’ve seen a ghost. It was a shadow that walked from one room to the other. The “ghost’s” relatives had seen her in a mirror the day after she had died and I saw her about a year later after I bought my house.

yes, i have seen a ghost on more than one occasion. Most recent was when I was in southwest Texas this past Spring. I was out taking some pictures around my Tio’s property. I saw something a picture a was taking. I snapped it not thinking it would show up on the picture. Every where I turned I saw this gray cresent shaped thing. Slowly it faded. It shows up in all my pictures I took. Really cool. It has been the subject of many conversations.

I have never seen one, but my grandfather used to hold seances upstairs at his house & he had to quit because the “spirits” would stand at the foot of his bed & pull the blankets off him!

Linda, my good friend had a resident ghost in her home. He used to mess with her when she was in the basement during laundry. She saw him several times. Said he wore a confederate unifoirm and grinned at her. She swears he knew he undid her a little (after the first several sightings, she started just talking to him) and she thinks he was amused. When she moved, she worried about him.

I’ve never seen one that I know of, but I met a man once who lived in a beautiful, old house and he said that if his son left a toy on the stairs, it would come “floating” across the room and the toy would land in the toy box.

He’d take it back and put in on the stairs, and sure enough…”something” put it back in the toy box. All I can say is…it must have been a woman who was a good house keeper. I need me one of those.

No ghosts for me, but just what is a ghost? A see-through dead person that floats around, rattles chains, etc? They see us, talk? Just not real clear on that, but my belief is the dead pass on into the afterlife, & are not allowed to hang around, haunt if you will, the earth. Wow, a McKetrick movie & possible TV series? That would be fantastic!! Keep us up to date on that; time line, potential characters & all :-). Hope it would begin at the beginning, with Angus, then get into each son, like the books do.
    Blessings,

Oh, yes, yes, yes!!! Please let there be a McKettrick TV series!!! Oh, wow!!!!

I don’t believe in ghosts (meaning images of dead people) so I’ve never seen one. Have never had anyone tell me they’ve seen one, either, although I know people who go on ghost hunts.

Hi Linda….I have not had any experiences with any ghost but my mom has. One night her and her dogs were sound asleep and all of a sudden the dogs started barking their heads off. Mom went out to the living room to investigate and standing in the corner of the room was what appeared to be a ghostly figure of a man. Mom was really scared and yelled at it to go away, which it did. After she calmed herself down she got to thinking that the ghost was here dad who had passed away a few months earlier! To this day it has never appeared again!

P.S. Keeping my fingers crossed that The McKettricks becomes a TV series!!!!

In March of this year my step mother passed away. My sister’s and I haven;t spoken to her for 12 years since the death of our Father. The night that we learned of her passing I was asleep and I heard someone say my name and I opened my eyes and she she bent over beside my bed…then she was gone. That is my ghostly experience..

It was not a ghost, but I saw someone that looked just like my deceased son a year after he passed away (at the age of 32).

I just finished, a few minutes ago, all of the MeKettrick series (Sawyer being the last). I do hope for a movie or TV series would be better!

My daughter and her husand live in Virginia with my grand children. They have moved alot and have had many experiences with ghosts. When they lived in New Mexico the house had all tile flooring in it, So they got carpet put in and a few nights after that my grandauhtger heard hard soles shoes walking up and down the hallway that was now blanketed with carpet. A few nights go by and she happend to look out her window to see a white face with a blank expression, he had no eyes. Now that they live in VA my grandaugher seems to think that the house is haunted, mainly her bedroom. She says that she hears a woman cying in her bathroom or from that general directon. They also have a cat that will never enters my granddaughters room hut instend good ol’ Mittens stares at the door and hisses and all of her hair stands up. Waiting for the release of Big Sky Wedding! :)

Yes, I have seen a ghost. Once I wasn’t even aware until later that who I had seen was in spirit. The second was shortly after my mother passed and in thosee early difficult days. I awoke early one morning, when you are in that half-sleep period, and she was sitting on the foot of my bed. She didn’t speak, and when I blinked and sat up, she was gone. I think people in spirit are all around us and many of us just aren’t even aware.

Hi, AGAIN, Linda. I just remembered, after reading Ruth Rothberg’s comment something my paternal grandmother told me once. She was not a superstitious person, or anything else some people think a person is who sees things, but…she told me about waking up one night and my granddaddy was standing at the foot of her bed. She’d been having some problems, and he smiled at her and she said she felt he was telling her everything would be OK, and she said she went back to sleep and slept peacefully. And, everything was OK. She said she felt his presence many times, but that one time, she saw him.

First I want to say, I am not a fanciful person. If anything I am somewhat pragmatic. I have never seen a ghost but believe I may have felt one. In the early spring of 2004 my mother-in-law was nearing the end of her life. My father-in-law had died in 1999 and one of my husband’s brothers had died at age 50 of colon cancer several years before that. My husband was and is very close to his family. The last month of his mother’s life he lived at her house to help care for her and so that she would not be alone when the respite worker left in the evening. She believed she would not get better and wanted to die at home in familiar surroundings. She missed my father-in-law terribly and was ready for whatever lay ahead. The last week the hospice worker told us that the end was near. My mother-in-law was no longer eating and slept most of the time. My husband had been up night after night sitting with her and on the last night of her life, he laid down to sleep for a few hours and I sat in a chair next to her bed holding her hand so that she would not be alone. It was very still in the house the only sound her labored breathing. Suddenly I felt an unexplainable sense of peace come over me. It is very hard to describe. I didn’t see anything or hear anything. There wasn’t a chill in the air, nothing like you read in horror stories. There was just this overwhelming sense of a presence in the room. It wasn’t frightening. In fact, it felt right. I believe it was the presence of my father and brother -in-law in the room helping her cross over from this life to the next. Soon after experiencing this sense that I was not alone in the room Grandma took a deep breath, let it out slowly and then didn’t take another one. She was simply no longer there. The vital woman full of humor and love of her family had moved on to a better place. I have no doubt that the spirit of my father and brother-in-law were with me in that final vigil and were there to welcome her into her new life. I don’t know if this is a ghost story, but it certainly felt to me like I was comforted by the presence of the spirit of the people she loved and missed the most who were no longer among the living.

It’s better to say that I have been pranked by a ghost…. It was at Mount Buffalo Chalet in the Snowfields of Victoria Australia, the chalet is very old and we had a room with an ensuite, at 4am I heard water running and got up to see what was happening and found the hot water in the bath running. I turned it off and went back to bed. At 4.30 the same thing happenedm, and I went back into the bathroom and yes the hot water was running full on again. We told one of the regulars in the morning and he said… “That’ll be Jeffrey” and explained that he also opened and closed locked doors. We mentioned it to one of the waiters who also said… ” Oh Jeffery’s up to his tricks again.

Yes, i have seen a ghost. And we currently are shareing our home with one, which is shy and does not show herself.

They say, who are ‘they’? I am really not quite sure myself, but everyone seems to know who ‘they’ are, as they refer to their information, quote their wisdome, and reguard what is said like it is the ultamate word on the topic.

So going with what ‘they say’, ghosts can be attached to a home or to an item with in the home, something of sentimental or strong emotional ties to them. It could also be a murder weapon or something the ghost wants a human to find and reveal.

I was staying at my best friends home for the night, sleeping in her daughters room in the front of the house near the head of the stairs on the 2nd floor. It was deep into the early morning hours, and i awoke to a rustling noise. It sounded like~ shhh shhh~and then i would hear a step and a creak of a floor board. Which was very odd, as the floors were all quite new, very solid and did not creek or moan when walked on. I also knew no one would have shoes on, and a nightgown that would make the noise of some one walking in a southern ball gown. This was 1996~ not the 1800, and we were in Upstate NY not Georgia!!

Shhh~shhh, step step~ it got louder and closer to my open bedroom door. Was I scared??! YOU BET’CH!! I think i quit breathing, blinking, and stilled my heartbeat too. The foot steps continued and then slowed down right out side my door, like the ghost knew i was in there, and she slowly moved sqarely into the center of the open doorway.

She was opque, almost cloud like. Her features had greys and dark areas to the white so she looked 3 dimentional to me, and she looked every bit like a human only ghostly white. She had on an old fashion wedding dress, i would guess 1800’s, early 1800’s perhaps. I noticed netting underneath the skirt of the dress, to hold the fabric out so she could walk. Her hair, her clothes~ all very old fashion. Even her boots, button up boots.

She just stood there and stared at me, she knew i could see her, and i knew she knew i could see her~ and that fact alone, once i really realized it, well it compleatly unnearved me. I broke my gaze at her, and looked away very quickly, then looked back, with in that short instant she had started down the stair way to the first floor and was gone. I burried myself into the covers and laid there until the sunlight came through the window.

My bestfriends home was a newer home, im guessing it was built in the 50’s or 40’s perhaps. So this ghost obviously was not someone that had lived in this house before. I have always wondered what item the ghost might be attached to?!

Move ahead to present day~ I now live in southern NJ with my husband and my Momma and the 4 legged children (dogs and cats) and with our ghost Lucy. Im not sure how she got the name Lucy~ but that is what we fondly call her.

She wears lilac perfume, cooks and bakes many different foods though we only smell the scents in the bedroom/den area of the house…if you go to the kitchen you will sadley smell nothing. She turns lights on and off and flickers them and yes weve had them checked. We have 2 light/fan combos on our porch…she likes to turn on only one of the 2 lights and then flicker it a little then turn it off, and maybe on again and leave it. We hear her walking up in our attic~ we have felt her pat us, like she was tucking us in for the night, or sitting on the edge of our beds. Our home has the orig. part which is 50 yrs old, then when we bought the place the owner had just put on a new addition 2 yrs previously. The funny part, Lucy only goes in the new addition area~ we never have any sign of her in the orig. house area.

We like having Lucy~ shes a part of our home. In a way shes a comfort to us. She doesnt make the dogs bark or scare the cats~ shes really a wonderful guest.

Hi Linda, I don’t know if you would go it a ghost but I had an experience. When I was about 10 yrs old and we were visiting my grandmother it happened. My Mom and I were sharing a bed, which happened to be my deceased grandfather’s bed. He died the previous October. My Mom and both woke up because we felt someone sit on the foot of the bed. We actually saw the bed dip. When my Mom said Dad we are all ok it is okay to leave, The edge of the bed lifted and we were shocked. My Mom said he was checking on us to make sure we are ok. I didn’t want to stay there but my Mom said don’t worry he won’t hurt us. I will never forget that experience.

I have never seen a ghost, however my mother has.
She was a teenager, and the neighbor little boy was very sick and she was helping take care of him. She said that her and the mother were in the room with the child when a figure appeared in the corner of the room. It hovered at the bed by the child, circled it 3 times touched the child face and then vanished. The next day, the child was no longer sick. She said it was the scariest and most amazing thing she had ever seen.

Yes I’ve seen ghosts. In fact our current house has a ghost. The old woman who originally lived in it. If she doesn’t like something we are doing to the house she lets you know it. The original part was built in the 1700s. So it’s OLD. But we love it.

And as a child I saw my grandfather long after he’d passed. As a teen my Grandmother would come visit. She still does. So yes I have experience with ghosts.

I’ve seen ghosts, and felt the presence of my Dad many years ago, after he passed. I was sitting at an intersection red light, still very upset over losing him just days before, and I suddenly felt hands on my shoulders and could smell Old Spice – my Dad always wore Old Spice. It was a comfort knowing he was, and is, with me.

At 16, I woke up on a hot summer night to a cool breeze (there hadn’t been a breeze, cool or otherwise, that whole day), and at the foot of my bed was an angel…couldn’t see a face, though. The gown was softly fluttering in the breeze that was blowing thru my bedroom window at that time; she hovered there quite awhile while I silently watched, then she faded out of sight.

There have been other experiences, too, in my lifetime…all very profound and pleasant – nice to have these moments to know we’re not alone, and for those who have passed to be recognized.

I have seen a few ghosts in my life time….When my daughter was young, my husband and I bought a house in a little town. there was a old woman ghost that lived there. She kept scaring the kids…so finally one day when I was baking for Christmas she was standing by the Christmas tree. I told her I would love to share the house with her but she had to quit scaring the kids. We never saw her after that. I saw my uncle after he passed and my aunt. They both died young….

I saw my Dad about three weeks after he passed away. I had been going through a very bad patch in my personal life – divorce, surgeries etc. – and had been grieving for daddy when he appeared to me to tell me he was in a wonderful place and that hang tight – better days were coming and I’d get through everything just fine and that Mom will be good too. And after that, everything did begin to get better and Mom seemed to buck up and begin to get on with her life too. I told her about seeing Daddy about a year later and she said she’d seem him about the same time I did. And at the time we lived 80 miles from each other. I’ve since then shared that story with folks and have heard the same stories from others that have experienced encounters with loved ones like that. I think it’s wonderful if you do.

Love your books and blog Linda!

This ghost question was too good to pass up. The amount of posts is certainly a testament to that. My mom and I were just talking about this and for the first time I admitted to her that when I was little I used to see a black cat in my bedroom. Just walking by the door at night. Maybe why I’m just not a cat person…

My family owns two cabins on a lake. One night my brother and I saw the lights on in the old cabin (built in the 1930s) across the lake. Our dad drove us over and there was no sign of anyone. We went in and the power was stilled turned off. 8-O A bonding experience none of us will ever forget.

Thanks for taking us with you to magical places in your books!

Wow, Linda, this question sure brought your readers out of the woodwork! :O) I believe I have seen angels (heavenly beings) but not ghosts (dead people walking around). I’d love a McKettrick series on TV, as long as it’s on a channel I get, or it comes out on DVD as soon as possible! And I hope you have final say in the writing of it, so it’s as close to the original books as possible. Congratulations if it does happen!

In 2006 I was laying in bed, getting ready to get up for work, when I rolled over and saw someone turning to walk away from my open bedroom door, just a shadow. As the person was leaving, she said “Good Morning” and I said good morning back. I later asked my (soon-to-be-ex husband) if he came to my room. (We were split living in the same home at the time) and he said “no, I was getting ready for work.) His room was on the opposite side of the house.

After thinking about it, I realized the voice was my beloved Aunt Genny…who had passed in 2002. 8-O I adored her and she is still watching over me.

Yes, I have seen a ghost. I think I have told you about the family farm in here in Iowa, generations of family have lived and died their since 1881. We believe its Grandma Elisabeth, she and Grandpa Johann were the original builders/owners. She’s seen going room to room. My Mother told us that she saw her in the upstairs hallway carrying an armful of bedding just after she came to live there. Grandma is still keeping house.

Out by the barns I have seen Uncle Max or maybe it was his brother (I can’t remember his name), they migrated to the Spokane Washington in 1886 in their teens and were the children of Johann and Elisabeth.

I have had people think I was nuts for saying I see ghosts so I don’t talk about this very often but if I am nuts so is the whole family. We have all had experiences. I believe they are still just working the farm and doing day to day stuff and have no idea they have passed on.

My ex husband was never comfortable with it, he to had an experience shortly after we were married, he said he saw two boys out back and they disappeared in front of him (Katherine’s boys, daughter of frederick).

There is no reason to be afraid of them, they are family. I am comforted by their being there. When I go home sometimes I will walk around the house looking for them and tell them that one day I will move back home and fix the place up. There is probably no chance that will happen since I don’t own the property but I think they know that and understand my wishful thinking.

Moving on, a television series or movie?!! That is so cool!!! I hope it happens. Please please stay with original story outline.

“one day I will move back home and fix the place up. There is probably no chance that will happen since I don’t own the property but I think they know that and understand my wishful thinking.”

Anne Little, do not give up on your dream. From the time I was around 11 years old, I dreamed of owning and fixing the house we lived in. It was not a family home, (not my family, I mean), but we lived there longer than we ever lived anywhere. Twelve years ago, according to the plans God made, it became mine.

The problem is…I received it the day after a favorite aunt was buried, and since then, it has been one lost loved-one after another. When my my oldest brother. son and mama were sick, I spent a lot of time with them…all I could. And, then, they died. The deaths seemed to go on and on, along with my mental and physical energy, and money.

Now, I am getting back to trying to live a normal life and want to make the place livable, but lack of money holds me back.

But, I said all of that to say this, I keep praying for God to make it possible to make the place livable, not fancy, just comfortable, through a personal loan, or something, and…before I get too old to enjoy it :), and if He saw fit to “gift” me with it 12 years ago, I can’t believe He won’t let me see the fulfilment of my almost life-long dream.

So, you keep believing and praying, and who knows?, you may get your wish. I surely do pray so.

And, I might add that this property had not been out of the same family since it was settled in 1832 till it became mine. Keep wishing, hoping and most of all, praying.

Thank you Gloria for those beautiful words. My Grandparents left the farm to Uncle and Aunt who have passed it to my cousin and his wife. I have already (over the past 20 years) told them that if I win the lottery or get a huge cash gift I intend to make them an offer for the place. They know I love it and asked me a few years back to come in and clean for them once in awhile. My Aunt’s health has been declining and she can’t do for herself a whole lot and my Uncle (82 and 84 years of age) works it with my cousin along with his own half but he’s my age now (50) and he can barely keep the place up along with his own. Then there is his son who I think will inherit but as I have said I have already, my bid is in. Its been in our family since it was built in 1881. Accourding to family legend it hasn’t looked this bad since the depression years. Johann built it himself with the help of his sons and every generation after. Prayer is what led to doing ocassional clean up so the Lord must be lining things up for me, but if this all he has in mind I am satified with that, still…..I would give anything to have that old house and really give that old kitchen a nice doing over. I am imagining an old wood working cooking stove…..(sigh).
        Blessings, :-P

“one day I will move back home and fix the place up. There is probably no chance that will happen since I don’t own the property but I think they know that and understand my wishful thinking.”

Anne Little, do not give up on your dream. From the time I was around 11 years old, (all I’ll say about that is…it was way last century), I dreamed of owning and fixing the house we lived in. It was not a family home, (not my family, I mean), but we lived there longer than we ever lived anywhere. Twelve years ago, according to the plans God made, it became mine.

The problem is…I received it the day after a favorite aunt was buried, and since then, it has been one lost loved-one after another. When my oldest brother. my oldest son and my mama were sick, I spent a lot of time with them…all I could. And, then, they died. The deaths seemed to go on and on, along with my mental and physical energy, and money.

Now, I am getting back to trying to live a normal life and want to make the place livable, but lack of money holds me back.

But, I said all of that to say this, I keep praying for God to make it possible to make the place livable, not fancy, just comfortable, through a personal loan, or something, and…before I get too old to enjoy it :), and also, so my youngest son will have a place to live when he loses his house due to a disability. And if God saw fit to “gift” me with it 12 years ago, I can’t believe He won’t let me see the fulfilment of my almost life-long dream.

After re-reading this, it sounds like a made up sad, sob story, but it isn’t, it is just to tell you miracles do happen. I’m still praying for mine, so, you keep believing and praying, and who knows?, you may get your wish. I surely do pray so.

And, I might add that this property had not been out of the same family since it was settled in 1832 till it became mine. Keep wishing, hoping and most of all, praying.

Oh my goodness! A series or film about the McKettricks, I will keep my fingers crossed for you :)
Where I work, we have a lady who wears red and “checks” on the patients from time to time!! I have never seen her but I have had to sit with patients who have rung the bell and have asked me to tell the lady not to disturb them anymore :) One time I spent most of my night shift talking to the red lady and telling her to go and rest because the patient said she was sat in the chair at the bottom of her bed and would not leave. I do sense a presence, but it does not make me frightened, and I do believe in the red lady because it has happened to different patients and they have all described her exactly the same :)

Long time lurker, but your question lured me out.

Yes, I’ve seen ghosts since I was too young to understand that not everyone can and learned quickly to keep it to myself. Other than startling me a time or two, my experiences haven’t been scary. Not to discount those that have had menacing encounters, luckily I haven’t and most have been in broad daylight. I don’t see them often, years can go by, but occasionally they just pop up. Sometimes solid and in full color, other times a shadow or barely a wisp of impression, feeling, or scent. Very, very, rarely do I pick up something beyond an impression of emotion in the way of communication. And on that truly rare occasion I pick up more, I can’t describe it. I don’t hear it with my ear, telepathy? Whole thoughts, not individual words. I can’t explain.

Knowing your love of pets, I’ll describe one experience, Linda, you might find interesting. I had a frail twenty year old cat, the last of three I adopted shortly after college. All the sudden one of the three that had died four years before was back. She was under my feet and so real, I tripped several times trying to avoid her. When she first came back, without thinking I’d go to pet her or talk to her and she’d just fade away. This went on over about a week or so, while my old kitty’s health problems took a turn for the worse again. Which were getting more and more frequent. And then I understood, she was suffering and it was time to let her go. Not put her through more treatment. My other one had come back for her. After I let the sick one go, I never saw the other one again. I feel them around from time to time, but haven’t seen them. One likes to rub against the left side of my jaw, but I can’t see her. Why only one came back and not both of the original trio, I don’t know? And I can’t call them up if I’m missing them or something. Just sometimes they’re there.

Same with the other ghosts. I can’t go looking for them or call them up. Sometimes they’re just there.

A movie? Great. A new T.V. series? Even better. The only thing better yet, we get both! Love your books, I always make note when they’re coming out so I can run pick them up as soon as they are released. I’m amazed at how fast you write!!!

Hold it! Wait! What movie??? I’ll go to the website to check out any new info, but someone let me know about the movie!
P.S. My hubby, one of those “old-timers,” loves Linda’s books. I don’t dare hand him one of a series without all the others waiting right on the shelf of my own personal built-in bookcase, built especially for his mom by my older son. And guess what this retired (after 45 yrs) English teacher fills those shelves with??? Miller, Palmer, Roberts, Gerard, Rose, Foster, Griffin, etc., etc., etc. Get to read only the fun stuff now! Hubby loves to read sections to me and we can laugh together!

WOW!! A movie and/or a TV series would be wonderful. I would have to break down and do the DVR thing for that. Yes, I am a hold out.

I have seen a ghost, years ago, when my oldest was a baby. We had just moved into a house in the country and I awoke on night to see an old woman standing over my daughters baby bed which was at the foot of our bed. I raised up to look at her and she turned to look at me then went out of the room. I thought I was dreaming until I woke later to see the moon shining full through the doorway because when she went out the door there was no light. There were other unexplained things that went on in the house, plus I had heard a baby cry the whole time we were moving in but no one else heard it. I was a bit shaken but never told anyone for the longest time then one day a few weeks later I was at my grandmother’s house with an aunt and we were talking about weird things. At the time I just knew mamaw would make fun of me but told them about the woman anyway. She didn’t laugh just looked me straight in the eye and told me never to take the baby back in that house. I never did and moved out shortly after. I heard the couple that moved in after was hearing the baby cry but the wife was pregnant and so had never seem the old woman. I sent word to them that they wouldn’t until the baby was born and my advice was to move out as soon as possible. I was told they had moved out but lost track of the house after that so I don’t really know what happened to it.

Curious as to why you asked but I am sure you will let us know in your own time. Patiently waiting for the next book release.

God Bless You!!! Have a wonderful week…

I’m so excited I don’t know what to do with myself!!! A mckettrick movie and series!! I just can’t contain my joy!! YIPPY!! Now we all have to pray for patience to wait till it goes through!! Lol!! Congrats Linda!! I don’t believe in ghost but I do believe in spirits both good and bad. As a child I would go and stay with my friend and they had a spirit. Her dads brother died in the house but it was very scary!! We never seen it but u could always feel it. It would pace the halls at night. They also knew it was their and Thu, Nov 15, 2012 visit them my mom and dad knew it was there too. We still talk about that! Thank God they sold the house and it didn’t move in their knew one. Why is it we are so scared of them anyway. What can they do to us when we are held in the palm of the Lords hands?? He doesn’t give us the spirit of feace but of peace!!

Yes, I have most certainly seen a ghost. I was seven and my mom had just remarried to a man whose wife passed away of cancer a few years before. One night, I couldn’t sleep, and I sat up in bed to see that the hallway outside my room was illuminated from the glow of the light from the bathroom. A second later, a woman in a blue robe walked past. The next day, I finally saw a picture of his deceased wife and it was the woman in the blue robe.

Yes I have seen a ghost.
My husband’s first wife was killed in a car accident at a young age and left behind 4 young boys, ages 10, 5 ,4 and 3. One morning, very early after we had gotten married I was sitting at the dining room table having a cup of coffee waiting until it was time to wake the kids up for school when I first felt something. I looked up and saw a woman, wearing a light blue peignoir, in the hallway coming toward me. She sat at the table and told me she wanted to talk to me about the boys and how I would raise them We just talked for what seemed quite a while, when she got up, looked at me and said she could go now, the kids would be ok.
I described the the incident to my husband and he told me that she was wearing a light blue peignoir for the funeral.

I’m so excited about a possible TV series about the Mckettrick’s. Every time I read one of your Mckettrick books I would think how great it would be to see a movie about them.

On your old blog you had a family tree of the Mckettrick’s
and I was looking for it on your new blog and couldn’t find it.
Do you still have that posted somewhere?

Looking forward to your new book!!

I’d LOVE to see the Texas McKettrick’s in a movie! Whenever I read them, I see Jessica Alba playing Libby! LOL!! Your books would make a wonderful series.
After my father passed away my mother didn’t do too well. I was 17 and still trying to figure things out. My mom got rid of all of his clothes and colognes. But every once in awhile she would catch a scent of the cologne he always wore. and not just in the house but outside. I told her it must be her imagination. She got rid of the car he bought her and bought a new car. Bought new furniture and changed the carpet. But still every once in awhile a drift of that darn cologne would appear and this time I was smelling it. Finally one day she was getting into her car and it happened again and right there in the driveway she started crying and yelled at my dad to let her move on. After that, neither one of us had that experience again. Strange, but it helped us move on. I love my dad!

No ghosts; but 2 of my uncles used to tell ghost stories around the campsite on our “back 40” acres with the marshmallows on a stick you cut from a tree and hot dogs the same way. My uncle told me 30yrs later he had as much fun as “the yunguns'”
Amen and DItto: I enjoy any meal I don’t have to cook…and empty nesting is not as much fun as all around the kitchen and table.

yes, I have seen a ghost!! It was on my 8th birthday. I was celebrating at my grandparents house because my brother was sick in the hospital and my parents were with him. We had a fire going and had been roasting hotdogs and marshmallows. My sisterm 2 cousins, and I went for a walk behind the house. And there perced on the ledge was this weird white, see through blob. I was staring at it when it stood up and….it didnt jump, but kind of dived/flew in the trees beside the house. I screamed bloody murder lol. Which made everyone else (who didnt see it) scream. And we ran way like babies. I have never, ever forgotten it. Still freaks me out because I can see it so clearly in my mind.

I’ve seen the spirit of my grandfather one stormy night. I know, cliche, but after my Grandpa Joe passed, I stayed with my Grandma for about six months. I was 12 years old at the time. I slept with Grandma in their old bed and one night during that summer, I heard thunder, which woke me up. I saw a flash of light just as I opened my eyes, which I assumed to be lightning, but when I turned my head toward the window, there was my Grandpa! We always had a nightlight burning in the hallway just outside the room, so I could see quite well even in the gloom. I remember thinking, ‘how can this be? and simultaneously, ‘am I dreaming this?’ I purposefully kept my eyes wide open for several moments, staring at him. He wore his old bib overalls and a blue/gray plaid shirt. There was such a sense of peace about him and I was so happy to see him, I forgot to be scared. I knew without a doubt that he was just there to watch over us. I think I may have whispered “Grandpa?” or I was about to, when I saw another flash of light and then he was gone. I was awake for a long while that night, amazed at what I’d seen and felt, listening the storm die away and the rain dwindle. Grandma never woke up that night but I know for all the years that she lived in that house, that she felt his presence very often. I did too, whenever I came to visit, but I never saw him again.

Hi~ i keep getting goosebumps from reading all these wonderful accounts of each of you here~ yours really hit home with me esp.~ my Grandpa always wore the bib overalls, and yes the plaid shirts too~ and I grew up with my grandparents living in the downstairs of our farmhouse, and my mom and dad and i lived upstairs~ so your account really touched my heart. I always prayed and wished so hard, so hard my little heart would break to see my G’pa and G’ma after they passed. It was like loseing my parents we were so close. But they never showed themselves to me. Im glad you were blessed to see your G’pa and feel his pressence~ that makes me happy for you. ~ Cherie

The house I live in now, have lived here for 17 years is haunted. It’s a small house but it is haunted by a male ghost. I actually ran right into him in the middle of the night on my way to the bathroom. I freaked out and ran screaming into the room where my daughter was sleeping and woke her up freaking out. We have had a lot of items come up missing and then reappear in different, very odd places. Also paper towels flying across the room, he once grabbed the back of my dress and jerked me back about 4 feet. We’ve learned to live with it. As long as he isn’t mean or hurt anyone I’m okay with him being here. My dogs do a lot of barking at the hallway where he seems to spend most of his time.

My nephew saw a spirit one day. It was just after my grandfather-in-law’s funeral. My nephew started giggling. He asked whe he could go back to grandpa Lonnie’s. We tried to explain that he passed and we would have to wait to see him in Heaven. He looked at ALL of us, straight-faced and said, “But he was just sitting right here beside me on the couch.”

I live 2 hours away from Gettysburg, and travel there often with my children! There are many stories of the Farnsworth Inn where visitors have mentioned seeing something, or have felt like they were being touched, but there was no one in their room, but themselves. There are other Inns as well around Gettysburg, that are supposed to be considered haunted, but the Farnsworth Inn is the one the has had numerous suspicious things happen.

Sorry to rant! Just brief little blurb, of things I have picked up or read about.

Have worked as a Registered Nurse for 32 years. Many of them in busy, understaffed public wards and yes on more occassions than I can count i have had “extra” help replacing drip bags etc – when asked the patients often say it was the old nurse in the veil – many years pre me! Another occasion, and most profound, I was 8 months pregnant with my 3rd child. Husband was on night shift and child no. 2 was in bed with me, approx 2yrs old. I woke and saw a man in a hat in the bedroom – was scared as – thought I must be dreaming – child awoke and said “whose that man mummy?” The man then faded away. Went to the Dr next day and baby was deceased. My Nan said when a child dies someone always comes to help them to the other side.

In addition to my ghost story I can often “feel” a spirit presence. Maybe it has something to do with having a lot of experience with the deceased but I think I can often feel if the spirit is still around or has moved on. just be calm and takd to them – no harm in that and if you don’t believe all that happens is you feel a little foolish! I have seen enough people who have passed with the most beautiful, peaceful expressions that I believe there is definitly something good to go to. And Linda – thank you so very much for sharing that wonderful gift given to you of word expression!
