#1 NYT bestselling author Linda Lael Miller

It’s official….I’m an Audible.com ADDICT

No, seriously.  I renew my annual membership, like, every other month!  It’s getting scary.  I simply consume audiobooks–words in, words out, that’s my excuse.  I seem to crave words.  I would breathe them if I could, absorb them through the pores of my skin—today, for instance, I ordered at least six of the things, which would be all right, I suppose, if I hadn’t ordered at least that many yesterday.  I should become a stockholder!

Alas, I have no desire to be cured.  :)

Now, for Monday business: our winners this week are: Laurie Gommermann and Lynn Velthouse.  Congratulations, ladies!  Your autographed books will be on their way soon.  As for the rest of you, well, try, try again.  There’s a new contest running as we speak, and all you have to do is comment and you’re entered.  (I know I say all this every Monday, and probably bore the socks off some of you, but it’s for the new people.)  The winners are chosen at random, contacted by Super Jen, and finally announced on the blog.  (Phew.  That seemed like a mouthful.)

The weather continues to be beyond glorious here in Spokane.  Have I mentioned that I THRIVE when the sun shines?

I finally have a Wishing Machine experience to report.  One day last week, I simply wished that something wonderful would happen.  And guess what?  Not only did I win a respectable jackpot on one of my favorite slot machines, but my daughter got a bit part as an extra in the TV series, “Z Nation.”  My daughter, the zombie.  :)  (Or, perhaps, the zombies’ lunch.  I’m not sure I can watch!)

Tomorrow I’ll tell you about “Interlude”, my story in Brenda Novak’s wonderful charity project, SWEET TALK.  A big thank you to those who have already ordered–and wasn’t it cool that Brenda responded to so many of your comments?  The woman is a class act, a real force for good in a world that can use all the light it can get.

Until then (and even after that), be kind, be well, and be happy.  Remember, it’s a choice.

Being addicted to audio books is not a bad thing but I need an actually book in my hand. My mind will wander & I won’t hear a thing. Today is raining but the weekend was beautiful especially with the cherry blossoms out.

I prefer to read on my Kindle. I am afraid that if I listened to books I would be so distracted by other things that I would miss most of it. When I am reading, I have the ability to shut out all distractions. I can’t tell you how many times I have missed the weather when I read right through it without hearing one word! I agree that being happy is a choice. I have some ailments because I am aging BUT I can still walk, I have all my facilities(sort of), I can see, I can hear and I am doing good! There are so many people that do not have legs, arms, sight, hearing and mental facilities that I consider myself lucky! I ordered one of the books from Brenda Novaks fundraising but I cannot remember which one!

You have piqued my interest in audio books….. as I am addicted to anything PAPER with print on it, I may have to curb my appetite for the written word for the ‘spoken word’…. btw-your books are one addiction I thoroughly enjoy being hooked on!! :-P

I have been listening to audio books when I ride the excercise bike which I have had to do a lot lately because of the rain. If it doesn’t rain I take long walks but lately it seems all it does is rain, my yard is like a swamp right now and can only mow part of it. I use to say I didn’t like audio books but lately I have really been getting into them. Have a great day! :-P

I’m not really fond of audio books, but my hubby has lost most of his sight. He would be really lost without audible. Audio books have been such a lifesaver for him! He has always been a voracious reader and not being able to read is almost as bad to him as not being able to drive!
Audible and the talking books for the blind have been a real godsend for him!

Hi Linda. Well, I got my answer on the book about Bex. Coming out 26th of May. Will just wait and see if I get with my books that I get from Readers Service every month. Probably will be in my June shipment. I hope. I was in Kindle, which put me in Amazon. That’s where I found it. Now I need to order Sweet Talk I think. That’s the name of it. Hope you are having a good week. I need to get back to Weight Watchers to give me some inspiration or accountability to loose weight I have gained this last four months. I am 10 over my goal weight. So hard to loose. I got some dandeline tea. yuck. Forget that stuff. Its horrible. Will stick to white tea, Oolong tea and Earl Grey Tea. I mixed dandeline tea with unsweetened cranberry and half of a squeezed lemon. Suppose to help you loose weight. But it tastes horrible. So I will try these other teas to see if they help me. God Bless You. Have a wonderful week with all this nice sunshine. Love ya. Mary 8)

CONGRATULATIOS to Laurie Gommermann and Lynn Velthouse!

Linda, I’m glad you’re having such nice weather and feeling so great.

In this one day, alone, we’ve had sun, rain, T&L, more rain, more sun, more T&L, and just this instant, the sun peeked out, must have gotten scared, and hid, again.

But, the next two days are supposed to be in the 70’s and sunny. Yea God!!!

Congrats to the weekly winners. And also to your daughter in her Z Nation role. Right on!

Don’t lament on the audible.com addiction. Me too 8-O I even subscribe to the 24-at-once annual subscription. But even better than just the credits is that on many books, especially classics, if you buy the kindle, you get the audible narration for such a discount that you would never use a credit on it. I love switching from fiction and non-fiction of recent releases to filling in the gaps with classics.

I’ve been listening/reading the Jane Austen books in the same reading order as the movie THE JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB. And I also watch the corresponding movies. Goodness… one addiction on top of another.

I can hardly wait for your release of THE MARRIAGE SEASON–May 26. Yoo Hoo

Haven’t tried Audio books before, but I don’t think I would care too. Like other said, I get distracted easy and my mind wanders off thinking of other things. Also I like holding a book and if I need to go back a reread. Another thing I don’t own a device other than my computer. I’m disabled and it’s hard to sit here at for a period of time. When I read a book I have a bed table(homemade) with a book holder(homemade) I can use on the table if I want. My hands get tired easily so that way I don’t have to hold the book for a long time. I’ve been a fan of you and your book for a long time, back years ago. I wish I could buy your books more often but it’s not that easy.
The weather here was really nice over the weekend but today it’s cold, cloudy. It’s only going to get up in the lower 50’s the rest of the week.

Oh yes, the Audible half-price sale got me as well. But then, the only thing better than reading your books, is listening to them !!!
Does an author have any say in the narrator ?

I try to negate the guilt of purchasing so many by remembering that an audiobook permits multi-tasking!!! Who doesn’t want to get twice the number of things checked off their to-do list ?? Some days, my floors are very, very clean. ;-)
