I have been married to a wonderful hunk of a man for 28 years and have been given many wonderfully romantic, heartfelt Valentine blessings but…the most memorable was not from him. I was freshman in high school, new in town with no real promise of any attention on the special day. I received a Valentine, sent during school from a 6 foot tall SENIOR with a mustache AND a girlfriend! I was flattered and scared to death and didn't tell a soul…until now. My heart is racing again.

In second grade, after all the Valentines had been passed out and everyone was looking through their box of cards and munching cookies, John Wood walked over to my desk and gave me a little heart-shaped box of candy with a tiny doll on top. I was stunned! But, boy, when everyone gathered around to ooooh and ahhhh, I felt pretty special. It's one of many precious memories I have from childhood. (I've always wondered what happened to that cute little tow-headed boy, John Wood….he was quite the charmer at an early age!)

Remember in grade school linda when we used to make our own Valentines shoebox and decorate it with hearts, crepe paper or what ever we had. They would then sit on the windowsills in the classroom and our friends would put valentines in them. I remember that as being one of the most exciting times of the school year.

I remember when my brother and I were little my Dad always came home with candy and red roses for my Mom and she would give us kids the candy. My Mom always made Dad favorite dinner that night.

I just want to add that I mean no disrespect to everyone that does enjoy Valentine's and cards and such. Just because it's not for me doesn't mean it can't be for anyone – and I enjoyed reading the cool experiences posted here so far

I'm personally not big on romance when it's expected on a certain day or sold in a store. We hardly trade cards at my house. My favorite acts of romance are free and from the heart on any day. Coming home and my husband – who also worked all day – cooked dinner or called for pizza because he knew I was tired. Putting a blanket over someone who falls asleep on the couch, and turning off the movie so they can rest.To me those acts mean the most.

When I was a little girl growing up in Detroit, we had a wonderful store called Sanders. Sanders sold pastries and candy; especially the candy. Every Valentines day, my dad would buy me, my 2 brothers and my sister the chocolate valentine heart. Inside were little heart-shaped candies. We loved these and looked forward to them every year. When I got married and had children, my dad sent my 2 boys the chocolate hearts. A great family tradition and wonderful Valentine gifts.P.S. My mother always got a box of candy from my dad, but we always felt she got cheated.

My favorite Valentines Day gift was what I gave to my husband 23 years ago. I set up this great romantic scene and gave him a gift wrapped box with a postive EPT test inside. I told him that it was my gift to him for the next 18 Valentines Day. BTW, I love Rance. He is my favorite McKettrick. I especially love the shower/shaving scene. It is the perfect buiild up to romance!!!!
